Rafa Barrios rounds off his forthcoming ‘Shake That Body’ EP with ‘Burn For You’, delivering a track that shifts towards a more classic progressive feel while maintaining the groove-driven energy running throughout the wider release.
Arriving via Sound D'Elite on 22nd May, the track acts as the closing chapter to a three-track package that sees the Sevilla-born producer bringing together peak-time pressure with warmer, funk-infused elements.
‘Burn For You’ immediately takes a slightly different route. While earlier moments across the EP lean more heavily into direct dancefloor impact, this closing record introduces an old-school progressive edge, allowing rhythm and atmosphere to take a stronger role in shaping the energy.
Percussive movement sits at the centre of the arrangement. Rolling drums and tightly controlled grooves create momentum from the outset, while funk-driven touches gradually work through the mix, adding warmth and movement without overwhelming the track's cleaner rhythmic foundations.
That balance becomes one of the strongest parts of the record. Rather than relying on oversized moments or dramatic shifts, ‘Burn For You’ develops through subtle progression and groove, creating something that feels designed to pull listeners deeper into the arrangement over time.
There is also a familiar character sitting underneath the production. Hints of classic progressive house influence weave naturally into the structure, bringing a nostalgic edge while still sounding firmly rooted within a modern club environment.
Across a catalogue that includes releases on labels such as Intec, Hottrax, Toolroom and Repopulate Mars, Rafa Barrios has continually shown an instinct for records built around movement and functionality, with support arriving from names including Carl Cox, Marco Carola and Jamie Jones.
With ‘Burn For You’, he delivers a fitting conclusion to the ‘Shake That Body’ EP, balancing groove, funk and progressive energy in a way that feels understated but highly effective.
