Hot Picks: Uk Talent Josh Samuel Shares Some of His Favourite Beats

Josh Samuel is an up and coming artist based out of Liverpool. His love of music stems from as early as 5 years old when he began to play the piano. His first taste of dance music came in his teens, following in the footsteps of his older brother - who was also a DJ.

Since then, Josh has gone on to make impressive strides in the ever-evolving world of electronic music. After venturing into the Liverpool club scene at 17, he now holds 4 residencies spread out across some of the city’s most popular haunts. Outside of clubland, Josh has also seen himself propelled onto a larger stage, having supported the likes of Joris Voorn, Pete Tong, Peggy Gou, Bicep and more at Creamfields and also featuring on the lineup at Sankeys Festival.

His sound can be described as similar to that of labels like Sola and Saved Records. You could call it hard hitting tech house with inspiration from the evolution of house music, citing inspiration from the likes of Eric Prydz and Hot Since 82 among others. Josh's involvement in the dance music industry isn't strictly limited to the booth, as he's garnered heavy support from the likes of Michael Bibi, CamelPhat, Gorgon City, and Solardo with his edits, reboots, as well as original cuts.

Josh's latest release 'HRTBRKR' lands today on Solardo's Sola imprint, coming to the table with head-turning gritty melodies and pumping Tech House grooves from the outset.

To celebrate his latest release, we asked Josh to join our Hot Picks series:

Rooleh – Keep Your Mind Open

This swirly synth stab is insanely catchy, Darius Syrossians underground imprint Moxy has been providing loads of amazing tracks lately, this latest one definitely ticks boxes for me all round.

Dom Dolla – Miracle Maker (Airwolf Paradise Remix)

I didn’t think any remix could match the intensity of the original but this one slipped straight into my favourites. Fast paced, intensity through the ceiling on the drop, love it!

Roze Wlid – B-O-D-Y

I’m a sucker for a spoken word track and this hits the spot! The bassline on this is pumping and just gets me moving instantly. Not sure if this is the artists voice or not but they should definitely be making a follow up with this voice!

Sylvain Armand & Maxim Lany (Feat. Davina Malek) – Trippin’

The original or more so the vocal of this track is a classic in my hometown of Liverpool. Brings back memories of when I was first starting out listening to dance music as a kid!

The rework on this is brilliant and super modern, bringing the progressive sound to the front.

Chris Lake & NPC – A Drug From God (Rebuke Remix)

Been a big fan of all of Rebukes work for awhile now. He’s done this big track from Chris Lake justice whilst maintaining his original unorthodox synthy sound. Perfect for any peak time set in a big warehouse.

Josh Samuel's 'HRTBRKR' is out now on Sola.
