Hot Picks: Brazilian CAMZ Shares Her Story With an Inspired Playlist

Brazilian-born, London-based DJ, producer, radio show host and event founder Camila Soares, AKA CAMZ, is championing Brazilian sound and culture within London and the UK. Whether it be through her monthly 'Sunshine Beatz' show on Point Blank Radio, or her É Samba event series that has welcomed traditional carnival dancers and a live samba fusion band (Samba Sisters), CAMZ aims to bring sunshine to the hearts of Londoners and beyond.

In August of this year, CAMZ unveiled her debut release on the iconic Nervous Records, delivering the Brazilian infused 'Saudade' and immediately gaining support on BBC Radio 1 from Jaguar and Jeremiah Asiamah.

"This selection is all about my story and my moments on the dancefloor throughout the years. All these tracks make me feel SAUDADES, and bring incredible memories and feelings." - CAMZ

With her undeniably exponential rise in prominence getting stronger day on day, we asked CAMZ to provide us with her very own Hot Picks selection:

Acenda o Farol (Jack District Remix)

Jack District delivered a massive rework of the maestro Tim Maia's 'Acenda O Farol' from 1978. Like many Brazilians, I grew up listening to Tim Maia, and I love dropping this remix and sharing a part of my history with the crowd.

Groove Armada - My Friend

I remember watching this video on MTV and dreaming about what going to Ibiza would be like, and it became a life goal for me. Nowadays I go to Ibiza at least once a month during the summer, all thanks to Groove Armada's inspiration!

CAMZ - SAUDADE

My latest Nervous Records release 'SAUDADE' is a homage to my country and my culture. The original song 'Saudade' by Mestre Barrão, a famous Capoeira Master from Brazil, talks about what he feels Saudades for, and it was important to me to incorporate Capoeira instruments and elements into my production.

Agoria - Baboul Hair Cuttin (Gui Boratto Remix)

Gui Boratto is for me, one of the most talented Brazilian artists ever. To watch him perform live is magical, and I get goosebumps listening to this remix no matter how many times I listen to it.

Röyksopp - What Else Is There? (Trentemøller Remix)

This track takes me back to my heydays of raving in Brazil. Back then, we used to arrive at the raves before sunrise and stay until sunset when usually this song was played. I used to wait for the whole day for the moment I would hear it!

Jansons - Switch

Jansons is one of my favorite producers right now, and Switch is one of those tracks that can drive the crowd insane, regardless of who, where, or what time it's played. One of my all-time faves!

Chucky73 - Dominicana (The Martinez Brothers & Florentino Remix)

I love how the bros, like me, incorporate their Latin roots into their productions. Dominicana is a BANGER. They dropped it a lot this year in their Hi Ibiza residency, and it gets me going every time.

Cakes Da Killa - ICU (feat. Nomi Ruiz) (10 Years Of Eats Everything Remix)

Very into Cakes Da Killa right now. This track is raw, naughty and groovy. LOVE IT!

EJECA - Free From (Cinthie Remix)

Ejeca and Cinthie and producers who deliver every single time. This remix sounds really fresh and sexy.

Dean Mickoski & Roland Clark - Leave Me Alone (I'm Dancing) (Nicole Moudaber Remix)

Loving the Nicole Moudaber remix of Dean Mickoski & Roland Clark - Leave Me Alone, which just came out on Armada. Super powerful, and I love the lyrics and Roland's voice!
