For more than 25 years, Argentina’s Mercurio has explored the melodic reaches of house and techno, combining his experience as a DJ, live act and musician with a progressive sound built as much around emotion and harmony as dancefloor momentum.

His latest chapter brings him back to Sasha’s Last Night On Earth with a new three-track EP. Opener ‘Songstar’ sees Mercurio collaborate directly with Sasha, pairing driving rhythms with rippling synths, aching vocals and a warm, cosmic atmosphere. ‘Sunday 960’ moves into more tender territory before ‘Polymode’ closes proceedings with brooding bass, flickering melodies and a darker edge.

For his Hot Picks, Mercurio selects ten records currently finding their place across different stages of his sets. From atmospheric opening tracks and driving progressive grooves to deeper moments designed to change the energy of a room, the selection features music from Robert Babicz, Sasha, Mike Griego, Khen & Yotam Avni, Guy J and more.

Robert Babicz – The Last Soul

“Beautiful masterpiece by Robert Babicz, works great for the opening section or putting down the energy in endings.”

Sander Kleinenberg x Helsloot – My Lexicon

“This version of Sander’s classic works very well for my sets. The original is one of my favourites of all time, so I love playing this one.”

Spencer Brown x Ilan Bluestone – Hugo’s Coach

“I like to open with this track and some crazy guitars with lots of delays on it.”

Mike Griego – Back In Trance

“Mike is one of the best producers of Argentina, this track works at any time.”

Sasha – Hollow Sun

“Great track for the first hour of a set, getting people into the mood.”

Parakat – Aerial

“This is a special driving groove track for me, always works well.”

Plastikrosen feat. Solveig Eger – Plastikrosen (Patrice Bäumel Remix)

“Deep dark edgy groove that can be used in several moments. Great harmony!”

Khen & Yotam Avni – Retro

“Beautiful music in this amazing track, that can be dropped on a warm-up or at any point on a main set to create a relaxed and fantasy vibe with the crowd.”

Dyzen – Try (Mano Le Tough Remix)

“I like to use this remix closer to the end of sets. Great vocals and very interesting sound.”

Jamie Stevens – Tassolem (Guy J Remix)

“Amazing Lydian vibe! This floaty vibe, since the Lydian harmony, gets people really stuck to it!”

Mercurio’s selections demonstrate the breadth that sits within progressive house when a set is treated as a journey rather than a succession of peak-time moments. Warm opening records, deep grooves, intricate harmony and more expansive closing selections all have their place, reflecting the musical approach that has defined his work for more than two decades. It’s an ethos that carries directly into his latest Last Night On Earth release, where atmosphere and emotion remain every bit as important as movement.
