- Drum & Bass Pioneer Lenzman Dies Following Long Cancer Battle
Lenzman | Credit: Earth Agency The drum & bass community is mourning the loss of Dutch producer, DJ and label founder Lenzman, who has died following a three-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. He was 47 years old. Born Teije van Vliet, Lenzman became one of the defining figures in soulful drum & bass over the past two decades, earning widespread respect for his emotionally rich productions and meticulous approach to the genre. His family confirmed that he passed away on Saturday, 11th July, after a long fight with kidney cancer, which was first diagnosed in January 2023. Following his diagnosis, Lenzman underwent surgery to remove a kidney before later requiring emergency brain surgery after the cancer spread. Despite multiple setbacks and further treatment, he continued making music, running his label and performing whenever his health allowed. Earlier this year, it was confirmed that treatment had come to an end, prompting a series of fundraising events organised by the drum & bass community to support him and his family. Lenzman first rose to prominence through releases on Goldie's legendary Metalheadz imprint, where his 2014 album ‘Looking At The Stars’ established him as one of the genre's leading melodic voices. In 2016, he launched his own label, The North Quarter, which quickly became one of the most respected homes for soulful drum & bass, championing artists including Redeyes, Tokyo Prose and FD while helping shape a new generation of producers. His influence extended far beyond his own catalogue. Known for blending liquid drum & bass with elements of jungle, hip hop and soul, Lenzman's productions earned admiration from artists across the electronic music spectrum, while his label became synonymous with thoughtful, musical drum & bass that prioritised emotion alongside dancefloor impact. Tributes have poured in from across the global drum & bass community, with artists, labels and fans remembering not only his contribution to the music but also his generosity, warmth and commitment to supporting emerging talent.

- Hot Picks: D.J.S Share 10 Records Fueling Their Melodic House Sound
D.J.S Swiss collective D.J.S have quickly established themselves as a name to watch through their blend of melodic house, afro-inspired rhythms and immersive dancefloor energy. Formed by Dymos, Jay Fase and Shizzo, the trio have already taken their ODYS concept across Europe and the Middle East while performing at Caprices Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival and Eden Ibiza. Now making their debut on Arodes' Unreleased Records with 'One of Those Nights', the trio deliver a dreamy, groove-driven record already earning support from Black Coffee, Claptone and Ilario Alicante. To celebrate the release, we asked D.J.S to share ten tracks that continue to shape their productions, DJ sets and musical philosophy. Jimi Jules x Black Coffee – Trippy Yeah "A must-have in your playlist. Beautiful production. 'Trippy Yeah' feels like a trip through a warm, hypnotic dancefloor. We picked it because it nails the balance between organic textures and hypnotic simplicity, guiding the crowd without overpowering them. In the studio, it helps us craft basslines that breathe and maintain melodic clarity. It's a reminder that music can be both soulful and urban, a signature we aim to bring to our productions." BLOND:ISH x KeeQ ft. Chloe Paige - The Cure "'The Cure' is a masterclass in knowing when to let go and when to drive the energy. We chose it for its powerful groove and its ability to trigger collective emotions on the dancefloor. In production, it inspires us to write sections that play with contrast, moving from darker atmospheres into melodic passages that linger. It also encourages us to explore more ethereal vocal textures while staying dancefloor-focused. What a track. When it's time to make the crowd go wild, this is a perfect match." Adriatique – Miracle (RÜFÜS DU SOL Remix) "'Miracle' shows how a remix can completely redefine the emotional space of a set. We chose it because it brings the crowd into a shared intimacy without ever becoming cliché. In the studio, it reminds us how important arrangement is when building emotional crescendos that still work on the dancefloor. A perfect closing track, or whenever you want to get everyone emotional. Definitely Dymos' favourite." Dymos & Shizzo – Desire (Jay Fase Remix) "'Desire' brings a punchy groove that never lets up. We picked it because it demonstrates how a simple theme can become raw energy on the dancefloor. In production, it inspires us to push basslines and percussion while keeping a clear melodic identity. It's also a lesson in building effective drops without overwhelming the listener. A true masterpiece remix from our genius Jay Fase. This kind of track perfectly represents the energy we bring on stage." Shahin Shantiaei & WINCK – Prayer "'Prayer' is a banger thanks to its intensity and density of textures. We kept it for its sense of urgency and its ability to grab a crowd that's already moving. In the studio, it pushes us to layer sounds gradually and refine transitions so every element has its own place within the mix. It's a reference for writing passages that naturally assert themselves. Let's keep it underground." Somma – Be Like You "'Be Like You' takes us into a never-ending exploration of deep landscapes. The opening guitar is an invitation to travel and experience music as an emotional journey rather than just a groove. In production, it inspires us to weave organic motifs and natural textures that encourage listeners to stay with the record. We love playing this track." D.J.S – One of Those Nights "'One of Those Nights' is our baby. It captures pure emotion, timeless energy and deep vibes. We chose it because it carries a sentimental energy that works equally well in back-to-back sets and during more attentive listening after the show. In the studio, it inspired Jay Fase to write melodies that keep a connection with the crowd while remaining subtle enough to evolve naturally. What a guitar solo on the bridge." Fred again.. & Skrillex – Baby Again.. "'Baby Again..' is a showcase of a devastating bassline and immediate dancefloor damage. We included it for its radical groove and its power to completely transform a room. From a production perspective, it reminds us how important a clean drop and punchy percussion can be when resetting the energy of a set. It's also a brilliant example of how collaboration can push sonic boundaries." Meloko, Garla & Konvex – IF U EVER "'IF U EVER' is a hypnotic exploration of textures and loops that slowly weave together. We chose it for its ability to carry the listener into an intimate, almost cinematic world. When producing our own music, it encourages us to focus on subtle details and repeating motifs that build atmosphere instead of relying on constant big moments. One of the biggest club weapons of 2025. A must-have." Jay Fase – Pamoja (Jay Fase Minor Mix) "This track fuses afro grooves with kinetic, expansive dancefloor energy, rooted yet open. It's on the list because of its human warmth and the way its tempo naturally nudges the crowd forward. The production focuses on marrying organic percussion with precise pocketed grooves to create something that hits hard without ever feeling crowded. Supported by Keinemusik, Bedouin and BLOND, it highlights how cross-genre collaboration can push our sonic boundaries." The records selected by D.J.S reveal the foundations behind 'One of Those Nights'. From hypnotic afro house and melodic club cuts to timeless dancefloor records built around groove and emotion, each selection reflects the collective's approach to creating music that connects people while maintaining depth, atmosphere and movement. - Hot Since 82 Shares Feel-Good New Single ‘Life’s Too Short’ From Upcoming Album ‘Obsessions’
Hot Since 82 Hot Since 82 has unveiled ‘Life’s Too Short’, the second single taken from his forthcoming album ‘Obsessions’, arriving via his own Knee Deep In Sound imprint on 10th July. While the album reflects Daley Padley's personal and creative evolution, the latest single tells a story of patience. Originally produced six years ago, ‘Life’s Too Short’ was left off his previous album after the producer felt it wasn't ready. Rather than reworking it, Padley left the track untouched, waiting until the right moment to finally share it. "I've been sitting on this record for so many years, always believing that one day I'd get to share it with you all," he says. "It's a track that's always resonated with me... and who doesn't love a feel-good piano house anthem?" Built around uplifting piano chords, infectious vocal hooks and breakbeat-inspired rhythms, ‘Life’s Too Short’ delivers a warmer, more celebratory side of Hot Since 82's production style. Blending classic house influences with rolling percussion and vibrant dancefloor energy, the track balances nostalgia with contemporary production. Padley describes the record as one that simply makes people want to move. "I'm so happy to finally release this. I genuinely hope it puts a smile on your face, because you simply can't help but dance to it." The release continues the journey towards ‘Obsessions’, Hot Since 82's forthcoming album due on 4th September. Written across years of touring, reflection and personal growth, the project promises to offer a deeper insight into the artist behind one of house music's most enduring names. If previous single ‘Shaded’ looked back towards the records that shaped his career, ‘Life’s Too Short’ shifts the focus towards pure dancefloor joy, proving that sometimes the strongest records simply need time before finding their moment. - SMR Makes Teletech Debut With New Two-Track EP ‘LUV3RBOY’
SMR Scottish producer SMR has joined the Teletech roster with ‘LUV3RBOY’, a hard-hitting two-track EP that showcases his uncompromising approach to modern rave music. Representing the latest step in the Glaswegian artist's rise through the harder electronic music scene, the release blends industrial techno, hardcore and gabber influences while retaining a distinct sense of experimentation that separates it from more conventional peak-time productions. The title track wastes little time establishing its intent. Hammering kicks, relentless low-end movement and abrasive industrial grooves create immediate impact before the arrangement shifts into more unexpected territory through futuristic synth work, electro-inspired textures and haunting vocal elements. The contrast between mechanical intensity and cinematic atmosphere gives ‘LUV3RBOY’ a distinctive identity, balancing raw power with detailed sound design. The second cut, ‘Gabber From Glasgow’, takes a more direct approach. Built around pounding hard techno rhythms, rave-inspired synths and commanding MC vocals, the track pays tribute to classic gabber while reimagining its uncompromising energy through a contemporary lens. Fast-paced, aggressive and unapologetically club-focused, it captures the spirit of underground rave culture while fitting naturally within Teletech's modern sonic aesthetic. Over recent years, SMR has steadily developed a reputation for pushing beyond traditional hard techno conventions, drawing influence from industrial music, hardcore and leftfield electronic sounds to create productions that feel both destructive and inventive. With ‘LUV3RBOY’, he delivers one of his strongest statements to date. Combining relentless dancefloor functionality with imaginative production choices, the EP marks an impressive debut on one of the UK's leading labels for harder electronic music while further cementing SMR as one of Scotland's most exciting emerging talents. Juliet Fox Juliet Fox has unveiled the next instalment of her evolving ‘Technopatra’ project with the release of ‘Phases Of You’, arriving on 10th July as the third chapter in the producer's ambitious six-part release series. Following the arrival of ‘Underground Queen’ and ‘Desert Fever’ earlier this year, the new single continues to build the wider narrative behind the project, combining music, visual storytelling and a developing artistic identity that unfolds with each release. Where the previous singles introduced the world of ‘Technopatra’, ‘Phases Of You’ turns inward, exploring themes of personal growth, healing and self-discovery. Inspired by the different emotional stages people experience throughout life, the track reflects Juliet Fox's own journey, drawing on both personal experiences and the lessons learned throughout her career. Musically, the release stays true to the Australian producer's signature sound. Fast-paced percussion, driving techno grooves and punchy low-end energy provide the foundation, while Fox's unmistakable spoken vocal style once again sits at the centre of the production, adding a personal dimension that has become a defining characteristic of her recent output. The release arrives ahead of one of the busiest periods of Juliet Fox's year, with performances scheduled at Tomorrowland, [UNVRS] Ibiza, Awakenings, Brunch Festival, Rave The Planet and Pyramid Ibiza over the coming months. As ‘Technopatra’ continues to unfold, ‘Phases Of You’ offers another glimpse into the wider creative vision behind the project, balancing peak-time techno with a more introspective narrative that extends beyond the dancefloor.
