  • EXIT and P+US to debut Starlight Festival at the Pyramids of Giza this October

EXIT Festival is heading to Egypt this autumn with the launch of a brand-new event series, Starlight Festival, set to take place from October 8–11 near the Great Pyramids of Giza. The new multi-day festival marks the latest stop in EXIT's growing international expansion and will see the Serbian festival brand partner with Egypt-based entertainment company Venture Lifestyle and its electronic music platform P+US. Leading the inaugural lineup is Charlotte de Witte, who will make her first-ever performance in Egypt, alongside Michael Bibi, who is also set to play the iconic location for the first time. Adriatique returns to Giza after previously drawing close to 10,000 people for a landmark performance at the historic site. The bill also features Vintage Culture, Pete Tong, WhoMadeWho and Enrico Sangiuliano, with dozens of additional regional and international artists set to appear across the four-day programme. Starlight's main festival events will take place on October 9 and 10, with opening and closing parties spread across selected venues throughout Cairo. Organisers say the event will feature more than five stages and experience zones, alongside one of the world's most advanced virtual reality installations, first unveiled at Expo Dubai. While the Great Pyramids of Giza will provide the backdrop, the festival itself will take place from a specially designated site adjacent to the UNESCO World Heritage landmark, in line with regulations protecting one of the world's most significant archaeological locations. The launch represents a significant moment for electronic music in the MENA region, bringing together one of the strongest international dance lineups Egypt has hosted in recent years while further positioning Cairo as a growing destination for music tourism. Speaking on the announcement, EXIT founder and CEO Dušan Kovačević said the project aligns with the festival's long-standing mission of combining large-scale cultural experiences with international exchange. "It is a great honour to bring our festival concept near one of the most important monuments in human history," he said. "This project gives us an opportunity to celebrate Egypt's extraordinary cultural heritage while connecting it with a global audience through music." The festival is being co-produced by Venture Lifestyle, the company behind a number of major events in the region, including Anyma's Quantum Genesys showcase at the Pyramids of Giza through its electronic music platform P+US. With Charlotte de Witte, Michael Bibi and Adriatique leading the charge, Starlight Festival arrives as one of the most ambitious new electronic music events announced for the region in 2026. Matador IG Kyozo IG RUKUS IG STREAM / BUY Matador is back on his RUKUS label, this time with Kyozo for one new collaboration and one solo track. Irishman Matador is an underground mainstay who has constantly innovated in the studio and always serves up scintillating soundtracks in the club. • Captain Mustache releases his new album 'Luz' on Mobilee Records

Captain Mustache IG Label IG BUY / STREAM LUZ Following a series of standout singles, Captain Mustache finally unveils his new album Luz on the legendary mobilee. This genre-defying journey through light, darkness and electro nostalgia arrives on 12th September 2025 as a deeply personal yet collaborative statement from the French producer. Following acclaimed releases on Kompakt, Permanent Vacation and Bedrock, Luz marks a new chapter for Captain Mustache. Inspired by his love of the album format, he uses this long plane format to break away from the constraints of club functionality and embrace a freer creative spirit. As such, the record embraces retro-future electro, EBM, techno, wave and rap on a hugely textured album that’s just as at home on the dancefloor as it is in headphones. Luz means ‘light’ in Portuguese which reflects how this album explores both the light of day and the shadows of night. The 11-track record includes standout collaborations with friends and kindred spirits: Play Paul, Daft Punk’s Guy-Manuel’s brother reappears after their hit 'Everything' on Kompakt on opener 'The Pathetic. It's a sleek, futuristic electro-techno sound with sultry indie vocals. Mel. E. Logan of Chicks on Speed returns on the moody 'Pen Weapon' following previous fan-favourites like 'Mentally Naked' and 'Good Weather Girl', and the powerhouse duo of Sian and Sacha Robotti aka Third Culture bring their rhythmic firepower on lead single 'Vertigo' which is an arp-driven electro workout. Solo cuts come with the chugging astral ascent of 'Dancing Like Muffins,' a real standout at the heart of the album. There is also Detroit electro jam 'Luz' and slinky rhythms and retro-future melodies of 'Black Light'. Alongside these are the starry melodies and sleek late night grooves of 'La Vertu' with Jean Brock and cosmic vibes of 'La Nuit' with techno icon POPOF. Both are tracks that previously lit up global DJ sets from the likes of Claptone, David Guetta and Paul van Dyk. Also featured is CS Rucker, an Albuquerque-based rapper who adds yet another unexpected texture to the backlit trap and broken beat fusion that is 'No Retreat' with its neon synths and smart bars. Rooted in 80s and 90s synth nostalgia but always pushing forward, Luz redefines electro through a modern, emotional lens. Artist(s): Captain Mustache, Play Paul, Third Culture, Mel E. • LUM on Intention, Healing, and Sonic Rituals

You describe your work as a "ceremonial séance" and a spiritual encounter. What role does intention play in the way you create and perform music? Intention is foundational to my creative process—it's about setting the stage for a profound experience, much like a ceremonial séance. Every beat, every melody carries a purposeful energy that guides both the creation and the performance, aiming to evoke deep introspection and connection. Your music draws heavily from indigenous traditions and rites. How do you balance cultural reverence with personal interpretation when integrating these elements into your sound? Integrating indigenous traditions into my music is a delicate dance of respect and personal expression. I honor the wisdom and rituals of these cultures while interpreting them through my own spiritual journey and artistic lens, aiming to create a bridge between ancient wisdom and contemporary expression. You’ve spoken openly about a near-death experience that changed your life. How did that experience reshape your perception of music, creativity, and self? Surviving a near-death experience profoundly reshaped my approach to music. It stripped away superficiality, pushing me to embrace music as not just an art form but as a vessel for healing and transformation—both for myself and my audience. You’ve chosen to withdraw from traditional fame to stay authentic. What has that solitude in Tulum taught you about your own artistic process? Tulum wasn’t really about solitude—there’s noise, distraction, and a fast-moving scene like anywhere else. But within that chaos, I learned to protect my own stillness. It wasn’t about escaping the world, but about building a strong inner filter. That process helped me understand what truly matters in my artistic path and taught me how to stay centered and connected to my own rhythm, regardless of the environment. Plants clearly play both symbolic and functional roles in your work. Can you speak to the relationship between botany, consciousness, and your creative energy? Plants are integral to my creative process, symbolically and practically. They represent interconnectedness, consciousness, and the natural world, infusing my work with a grounded and holistic energy that resonates through my compositions and performances. In your view, how does music function as a form of healing—both individually and collectively? Music, for me, is a sacred ritual—a form of healing that goes beyond entertainment. Individually, it can be a powerful tool for growth, reflection, and emotional release. Collectively, it has the potential to unite and elevate. But like water, which can nourish or destroy, music also holds duality. The same drum that grounds a ceremony can lead an army into war. Sound is neutral—its intention gives it meaning. I choose to use it as a force for healing, but I never forget its power in both directions. Many artists seek attention; you seek essence. How do you navigate the modern music industry while preserving the sacredness of your work? In navigating the modern music industry, I prioritize essence over attention. Staying true to the sacredness of my work means forging paths that honor integrity and authenticity, even if it means diverging from conventional fame-seeking routes. You’ve participated in everything from sacraments to funerals in your research. What’s one ceremonial moment that left a deep imprint on you and how did it inform your artistry? One profound ceremonial moment was participating in ancient sacraments. It deeply informed my artistry by connecting me to universal rhythms and spiritual depths, inspiring compositions that resonate with profound meaning and resonance. You often refer to music not as entertainment, but as a ritual or medicine. How do you see the future of electronic music evolving in this direction? I see electronic music evolving towards a greater recognition of its ritualistic and medicinal potential. As artists delve deeper into the transformative power of sound, electronic music will continue to blur the lines between performance and healing practice. If your sets are ceremonies, what is the intention or prayer you hope each listener leaves with? My sets are personal ceremonies aimed at healing and self-discovery. While I don't see myself as a healer or preacher, I hope each listener leaves with a resonance that inspires introspection, connection, and personal growth. • Tinlicker release their version of The Boxer Rebellion’s much-loved ‘Diamonds’ - Out Now on Remember The Future/[PIAS]

Dutch duo Tinlicker, currently touring major EU & North American festivals, release a new collaboration with The Boxer Rebellion of the band’s emotional and revered hit ‘Diamonds’, out now on Remember The Future/[PIAS]. Tinlicker pursue a subtly powerful blend of organic & electronic sounds, evoking a range of deeply felt responses from euphoria to sadness without loss of danceability – a testament to their pin-sharp production skills. The Boxer Rebellion’s Nathan Nicholson has been their collab partner several times since 2020, and notably across several tracks on Tinlicker’s recent album ‘Cold Enough For Snow’, making this collaboration a natural and welcome progression. ‘When we asked Nathan Nicholson to work with us on what later became 'Be Here And Now' back in 2020, this came from our fanship of his band The Boxer Rebellion’ Tinlicker says. ‘So having the opportunity to work on a new version of their biggest hit 'Diamonds' feels like a perfect gift. A very good reason to release our first remix in more than three years...’ The Boxer Rebellion & Tinlicker ‘Diamonds (Further Than I Ever Was)’: In the original, Nicholson’s haunting, soul-stirring voice singing the heart-rending lyrics, woven with an equally moving indie guitar sound, have made it a life-soundtrack anthem to many. Tinlicker have made it more electro, but lost none of those qualities, adding layers of echo and reverb, a slower fade-in using part of the refrain ‘start to fade’ as a mantra, before faster beats and breakbeat drums herald fuller lyrics. A plangent guitar theme and slow, melodic synth chords keep feelings running high. ‘I’ve been lucky enough to work with Tinlicker for years and consider both Micha and Jordi close friends’ says Nathan Nicholson. ‘So when they asked if they could put together a new, reimagined version of ‘Diamonds,’ I was truly honoured and immediately said yes. We absolutely love what they’ve done with it—their version brings a kind of magic to one of our most beloved tracks.’ Current Tour: Tinlicker are in the midst of their prestigious European & North American festival run, inc. Somewhere Fest (US), Beats For Love (CZ), Badlands (CAN), London’s Live In The Park and Chicago’s North Coast Music Festival (full list below). Recent shows inc. Coachella, Paaspop (NL) and Lightning In A Bottle (US). The Boxer Rebellion & Tinlicker ‘Diamonds (Further Than I Ever Was)’ is out now on Remember The Future/[PIAS].
