Youth Music and Beatport have announced the recipients of their new joint funding initiative, awarding £60,000 across four grassroots organisations supporting young people within electronic music culture across the UK.
The programme was created to strengthen youth-focused projects working at community level, with four organisations each receiving £15,000 alongside additional editorial and marketing support from Beatport.
The selected organisations are Bubble Club, Loft Music, Subtle Radio and Red Rebel FM.
Beyond financial backing, Beatport will also support each project through features across Beatportal and wider promotional coverage aimed at raising awareness around the initiatives and their wider impact.
Youth Music Interim Co-CEO Carol Reid highlighted the wider importance of protecting opportunities for younger people entering music culture.
"Music is not just a 'nice to have', it is a lifeline for young people, offering safety, community and opportunity at a time when many are struggling with their wellbeing and sense of belonging."
The announcement also arrives against wider concerns around the future of grassroots music spaces and development programmes.
Recent Youth Music research found that more than a third of grassroots music projects currently face the risk of closure, increasing pressure on organisations providing entry points into creative industries.
Each initiative focuses on a different area of support. London-based Bubble Club will provide DJ development programmes and performance opportunities for learning-disabled and neurodivergent young people, while Newcastle's Loft Music will run a nine-month programme covering production, artist development and industry education.
Subtle Radio's Subtle Futures project will deliver year-long workshops and broadcasting opportunities designed to build practical skills and confidence. Elsewhere, Red Rebel FM will focus on supporting FLINTA young people through DJ training, radio education and wellbeing initiatives.
Matt Gralen, President and CFO at Beatport, described the wider goal behind the partnership as helping create more equal opportunities for future talent.
"This partnership is about levelling the playing field early on. By investing in these grassroots organisations, we are ensuring the next generation of electronic innovators have the tools required to thrive in the industry."
By combining financial support with visibility and long-term development opportunities, the Youth Music and Beatport initiative places focus on the earliest stages of electronic music culture, where future artists, broadcasters and creators often begin.
