Marking 30 years in the game, Liverpool's Yousef delivers his fifth studio album with ‘I Operate In Purple’ on Circus Recordings. Yousef never ceases to surprise and impress, this time delivering an outstanding collection of uplifting songs and dance floor ready romps that reflects both personal growth and a plethora of dancefloor experience. The 14-track LP spans vocal-led house, soulful and Latin tinged rollers, along with deeper club cuts. There’s a distinct shift in tone from Yousef's previous album, '9 More Drive', its less introspective and more optimistic with plenty of hands in the air inducing moments. The album features guest appearances from Kuuda, Bodacious Thang, Yasmin, Baby Girl, Alexx on vocals, and Tim Hutton who adds his expert musicianship, contributing across the album.
Brighton's Kuuda appear on a couple of great singles from the album including 'Higher Place' - already getting spins from Carl Cox and Calvin Harris, the latter even crafting his own radio rework that appears on the album, and also feel-good groover, 'Loving is Living'. From the sassy tribute to house music, ‘In My Shoes’ ft Bodacious Thang on spoken word, the Latin tinged vibes of 'Intuition' feat Baby Girl, the fabulous soulful house treat, ‘I Feel Good’, ft Alexx, to the powerful piano house stomper garnished with incredible horns, 'I Operate In Purple', each song is infused with a spirit of resilience and renewal, echoing the vibrant journeys that have defined Yousef’s sound. This is Yousef doing what he does best: building thoughtful, floor-focused music with emotional weight. No gimmicks, no forced features, just a brilliant crafted, heartfelt house album from a producer who still has plenty to say.
