The latest instalment of the Undrscovered mix series welcomes rising German selector Tim Peters, an artist quietly building momentum through carefully curated DJ sets rooted in groove, restraint and underground house energy.
Based in the south of Germany, Peters approaches DJing less as a performance tool and more as a process of musical exploration. Digging, collecting and sequencing records remains central to his identity behind the decks, something that shapes both his selections and the overall flow of his mixes.
“I’m just someone who simply loves discovering music, digging for new and old tracks, collecting them, and bringing them together into a journey. I enjoy creating a flow that keeps people engaged from start to finish, whether it’s on the dancefloor or through headphones.”
That sense of progression sits at the core of his Undrscovered guest mix, which unfolds as a carefully paced journey through groovy house and tech house textures. The opening section leans deeper and more spacious before gradually building towards a more driving club energy.
“For this mix, I wanted to create a groovy and uplifting journey built around some of my recent favorite tracks. It starts a bit more relaxed and deep to ease into the vibe, and gradually builds energy as the mix progresses.”
Electronic music entered Peters’ life through friends who were already DJing, opening the door to a world of underground house music and club culture that quickly became an obsession. “I first got into House and Tech House through two friends who were already DJing. This opened the door for me into this whole world of electronic music. Over time, my playlists on SoundCloud kept growing as I was constantly finding new tracks.”
The turning point came almost accidentally when he began experimenting with a friend’s mixer. “One day a friend’s mixer was standing at my place, and I thought, why not just try mixing some of my favorite tracks together. I had so much fun doing it that I kept practicing, and not long after I started uploading my own mixes to SoundCloud.”
Since then, Peters has steadily refined a sound that sits somewhere between house and tech house while maintaining a stripped-back aesthetic. “I would say my sound sits somewhere between groovy House and Tech House, with a minimalistic and spacey touch, inspired by the underground vibe of London and the groove you’d hear in Ibiza.”
That blend becomes particularly clear across the closing section of the mix, where one track in particular reflects the sound he is currently gravitating towards. “I’d say the final track in the mix, AAT – Get Funky, really captures my current vibe. It’s built quite simply, but still feels unique, with a great bassline and a lot of energy.”
While Peters continues to build his profile as a selector, early live performances played a crucial role in shaping his understanding of the dancefloor. “Some of the first live gigs definitely played a big role, smaller private raves, bar events, and student parties. Those experiences helped me understand how people react to different tracks and how to build a set for a crowd.”
Another milestone arrived through a guest mix opportunity for the respected underground label DeepGrooves. “Recording a guest mix for the well-known label DeepGrooves was a key moment for me because it’s a label I’ve been following for quite a long time.”
When it comes to discovering new music, Peters leans heavily into digital digging, using platforms like SoundCloud to explore deeper corners of the underground house ecosystem. “Most of my digging happens on SoundCloud, especially through labels and artists I follow. That often leads me down different rabbit holes where I discover new music through suggestions and related artists.”
Despite growing interest in underground club music globally, Peters acknowledges that house and tech house remain relatively niche within parts of Germany’s electronic landscape. “One of the challenges is that House and Tech House aren’t really popular style in Germany right now. That can make it harder to get noticed by promoters who may be looking for different sounds.”
Still, the energy surrounding upcoming events continues to inspire him. One highlight on the horizon is Time Warp Germany, a festival that consistently brings together leading names from across house and techno. “It’s always an amazing event and, especially for Germany, it has a great lineup for House and Tech House.”
Looking ahead, Peters’ focus remains on refining his craft both behind the decks and in the studio. “I’m also currently getting a bit deeper into Ableton, so hopefully there will be some of my own productions and releases coming out in the future as well.”
For now, his Undrscovered mix offers a clear snapshot of where he stands musically today: groove-focused, minimal in approach and driven by a deep curiosity for discovering the next great record.
