SHEILA opens 2026 by stepping into a new phase of her artistic journey. After more than 25 years at the centre of the Portuguese techno scene, the South African artist based in Portugal introduces a refined creative identity and confirms a subtle but meaningful shift. From this point forward, she simply goes by SHEILA, leaving the Miss prefix behind.
This decision marks a natural evolution rather than a reset. For over two decades, SHEILA has remained a constant presence across Portugal’s most important techno line-ups, earning respect through consistency, depth and a clear musical vision. Entering 2026, she chooses to return to her essence, guided by experience, confidence and a deeper connection to sound rather than external markers or trends.
The name change reflects a broader artistic repositioning. While subtle on the surface, it signals a more focused and intentional direction. SHEILA asserts herself as an artist rooted in authenticity, free from passing cycles and fully aligned with her musical language.
This new chapter begins with two original releases on her own imprint, Digital Waves. The first, ‘Illusion’, released on 30 January, delivers hypnotic, immersive techno built around organic percussion, acid lines, refined textures and understated vocals. The arrangement unfolds with control, leading to a first, intense drop that strips the track back to its core before rebuilding with renewed force. The closing section leans into contemplation, reinforcing a sense of elevation through restraint.
‘Illusion’ reflects SHEILA’s ability to balance contemporary production with a timeless approach. It is designed to function equally on the dancefloor and in solitary listening, staying true to her sonic DNA while pushing forward with clarity and intent.
The second release, ‘Take Me Higher’, arrives on 27 February, also via Digital Waves. This track leans more openly into emotion, pairing a bright atmosphere with expressive vocals and an expansive melodic structure. Built for connection and response, it channels uplift through gradual intensity and carefully placed crescendos, offering a more direct yet still sophisticated club moment.
Alongside these releases, SHEILA introduces ELEVATE, her new artistic concept for 2026. ELEVATE represents a holistic approach to performance, where music, atmosphere and narrative converge into a more immersive and conscious experience. Rooted in maturity and vision, the project reflects her ongoing commitment to depth and emotional impact within electronic music.
Several ELEVATE events are already confirmed, with dates and locations set to be revealed progressively throughout the year. As this new phase unfolds, SHEILA enters 2026 with clarity, purpose and a renewed focus on elevation without compromise.
