Swedish artist, songwriter and DJ Sebastian Rydgren returns with ‘night hours’, a soaring pop release that balances emotional vulnerability with dancefloor energy, continuing the build-up towards his forthcoming EP.

Released on 29th May, the single finds Rydgren leaning further into the intersection of modern electronic pop and club culture. Pulsating rhythms, nostalgic textures and uplifting production sit beneath a narrative centred on heartbreak, deception and the difficulty of letting go of a future that no longer exists.

While previous single ‘Talk To Me’ showcased a lighter and more playful side of his songwriting, ‘night hours’ arrives with greater emotional weight. Drawing influence from artists such as Robyn, Charli XCX and Tove Lo, the track combines euphoric production with deeply personal subject matter, creating a contrast that has become a hallmark of Scandinavian pop.

At the centre of the record is Rydgren’s vocal performance. His delivery carries the emotional tension of the song naturally, moving between reflection and release as shimmering synths and driving rhythms build around him. The production embraces elements of 90s dance music nostalgia while maintaining a distinctly contemporary feel, resulting in a record that feels equally suited to late-night listening and packed club spaces.

Speaking about the track, Rydgren explains: “The song ‘night hours’ is about being deceived by the one you love. It’s about being unable to let go of the dream of a future together and to accept that the relationship is not real.”

The release marks the fifth single from his upcoming EP, following ‘Imaginary Lover’, ‘In My Dreams’, ‘how i wanna die’ and ‘talk to me’. Together, the singles have gradually revealed different sides of Rydgren’s artistry, blending introspective songwriting with modern electronic pop production.

Since first gaining national recognition as a finalist on Swedish Idol in 2022, Rydgren has continued refining his identity as both a songwriter and performer. Supported by a carefully selected creative team and drawing on years of musical development, he has steadily built momentum towards this next phase of his career.

With ‘night hours’, Sebastian Rydgren delivers his most emotionally direct release yet, pairing heartbreak with euphoria in a way that feels honest, contemporary and primed for summer playlists and dancefloors alike.
