Plasma continue their evolving creative journey with ‘The Maze’, a four-track EP built around themes of direction, emotion and inner navigation. The release marks another step forward for the Lithuanian duo following their 2025 album ‘Inperimental’, expanding further into darker atmospheres, melodic progression and cinematic electronic textures.

Conceptually, ‘The Maze’ is structured around four symbolic directions. Each track represents a separate path through the same emotional labyrinth, moving between colder machine-driven spaces and warmer, more introspective moments. That framework gives the EP a strong sense of progression, allowing the tracks to feel connected without becoming repetitive.

The production reflects that balance clearly. Across the EP, hypnotic rhythms and detailed synth work create a steady forward motion, while melodic layers gradually widen the atmosphere. Plasma move fluidly between techno, melodic house, progressive structures and more experimental electronic territory, keeping the arrangements immersive without losing their club-focused foundation.

That tension between physicality and introspection defines the project. The grooves remain controlled and purposeful, but there’s also a reflective quality running throughout the EP, particularly in the way textures evolve and open over time.

A new element also enters the Plasma universe here. The Maze introduces the vocal presence of Tessa Veyr, an imagined character whose ghostly vocal performances add another layer to the project’s wider conceptual world. Used sparingly, the vocals reinforce the release’s themes of uncertainty, movement and fragmented identity.

The story behind Plasma itself adds further depth to the release. Originally formed during Lithuania’s underground cassette era in the 1990s, the duo built an early reputation through releases such as ‘Plug & Play’ and ‘Microworld’ before eventually separating creatively. Since reuniting in 2023, they have steadily rebuilt the project through archival releases, collaborations and new material that blends their individual creative evolution into a more mature shared identity.

With ‘The Maze’, Plasma continue shaping a sound that feels both futuristic and deeply human, delivering a release rooted in atmosphere, movement and emotional complexity while laying the foundations for their next chapter, ‘OMNITOPIA’.
