Argentinian by birth, but now living in Berlin, producer manu abeca’s dreams of lucidity is a quietly absorbing album that reflects minimalist mindset and instinctive relationship with sound. Self-released and deeply personal in tone, the LP moves at its own pace, favouring subtle shifts and emotional nuance over overt statements. It is a record that invites patience, offering space for reflection while maintaining a gentle sense of forward motion.
Across eight tracks, manu abeca weaves together textured ambient passages and warm, restrained techno, creating a balanced dialogue between rhythm and stillness. The opening piece, “look for what you notice and no one else sees,” sets the mood with a soft and welcoming atmosphere, easing the listener into an introspective state. “spirals” follows with circular rhythms and evolving patterns that quietly draw the listener inward, while “inwards” introduces a grounded groove, guided by a low-end pulse, tribal influences, and melancholic harmonic detail.
The album continues to unfold with “satono yu,” where organic textures and subtle tension blend into a meditative flow, and “ether,” whose airy tonal fragments evoke a sense of lightness and emotional lift. On “undefined susceptibility,” a more pronounced groove emerges, balancing raw rhythmic energy with delicate melodic touches, highlighting the beauty found within uncertainty.
"Primal flow" anchors the record with warm rhythmic beats and broken-beat percussion, reconnecting the journey to something raw and natural. In search of a clarity that is just out of grasp, the title track, "dreams of lucidity," gradually brings the story to a finish by fusing delicate atmospheres with experimental synth work.
Supported by respected selectors including Slam, The Advent, Amotik, MARRØN, Takaaki Itoh, and Alexi Delano, dreams of lucidity stands as a thoughtful and composed statement, suited equally to focused listening and with enough club creations for the discerning DJ.
