Los Angeles-based powerhouse Lee Foss steps into the New Year with a dancefloor reimagining of Akon and Eminem’s 2006 chart-topper ‘Smack That’, in collaboration with fast-rising talent POLOVICH on Repopulate Mars.
On their update of ‘Smack That’, the pair go straight for the jugular, layering bumping rhythms, booming low-end, and raucous synths while letting the original vocals shine. The result flips Akon and Eminem’s noughties classic into a no-nonsense hip-house burner built for modern dancefloors.
Lee Foss has always operated in his own sonic world — a place where house, tech, R&B vocals, and forward-thinking sound design collide. Heading up one of the most popular modern house labels of now, Lee Foss’ influence can be heard across clubs, charts, and radio waves worldwide. Since its founding in 2016, Repopulate Mars and its offshoots have unearthed and championed some of modern house music’s biggest stars, from Mau P to John Summit.
Following his collaborative ‘Matter of Time’ EP with GS5 to close out last year, Lee Foss enters 2026 with another heavyweight link-up on his Repopulate Mars imprint – this time alongside POLOVICH. With cosigns from Dom Dolla, Fisher, and MK and a string of major releases incoming on Three Six Zero, Terminal Underground, and GDB Records, POLOVICH has cemented himself as a rising force in modern house. Now, he returns to the label after last August’s ‘Sweet Dreams’ debut, unleashing a bold, floor-firing flip of ‘Smack That’ with the label boss.
Lee Foss & POLOVICH ‘Smack That’ drops via Repopulate Mars on 16th January 2026.
