Oliver Dela Cruz has launched his new solo project Le Cruize with the release of debut single ‘SWEET DAY’, marking a fresh creative chapter away from his work as one-half of Australian disco-house duo Midnight Pool Party. Buy/Stream it here: https://bfan.link/sweetday.

Based in Sydney, Dela Cruz has spent years helping shape Midnight Pool Party’s identity through a blend of disco, indie dance and house music that has earned the duo an international following. With Le Cruize, however, he shifts the focus towards something more personal and exploratory, creating space for ideas that sit outside the framework of the main project.

Rather than positioning the alias as a departure, Le Cruize feels more like an extension of Dela Cruz’s songwriting process. Built from a growing archive of unfinished sketches and unreleased concepts, the project allows him to revisit material that may not naturally fit within the high-energy club-driven world of Midnight Pool Party.

Opening this new chapter, ‘SWEET DAY’ introduces a more introspective side to his writing. While still rooted in melodic electronic production, the track leans further into emotional openness and vulnerability, exploring themes of timing, connection and the courage required to fully express yourself.

Speaking about the project, Dela Cruz explained that the idea had been developing quietly in the background for years.

“This project has been a long time coming. As one half of Midnight Pool Party, I’m constantly writing, experimenting, and building ideas. Some find their way into MPP records, while others get left behind.”

“Over time, I built up an archive of unfinished tracks, and ‘Sweet Day’ came from the decision to finally revisit that space and create something that’s entirely my own.”

He also described the single as a reflection on embracing vulnerability rather than avoiding it.

“This song is about seizing the moment, because life moves too fast not to take chances, especially when it comes to love. There's something powerful in being open, in wearing your heart on your sleeve. That kind of vulnerability takes courage. And sometimes, when you lean into that courage… you get a sweet day.”

With ‘SWEET DAY’, Le Cruize immediately establishes itself as more than a side project. Instead, it arrives as a platform for creative freedom, offering Dela Cruz the opportunity to explore a broader emotional and sonic range while maintaining the melodic instincts that have defined his work to date.
