North West London’s coolest Soul, Funk and Jazz trio Jonson, Jonson & Jonson, also known as Joe Cang, Danny Schogger and Phil Thornalley, return with their third single, ‘Trouble’, taken from their forthcoming debut album on their new label Swamp Recordings. ‘Trouble’ is a Seventies Soul inspired slow motion groover built on rich musicianship and an easy, unhurried pulse. The track carries a smooth and expressive arrangement shaped by Danny’s flowing piano work, Phil’s tight drums and playful guitar lines, and a deep bass groove that supports Joe’s Marvin'esque vocal delivery. His performance centres on a reflective question about conflict and human intolerance, giving the song emotional weight beneath its relaxed surface. With its warm textures and unforced rhythm, ‘Trouble’ feels made for late night soulful gatherings and calm pool side listening, setting a confident tone for an album that aims to offer depth, character and a steady sense of groove.

Jonson, Jonson & Jonson introduced their sound with ‘Keep Falling For It’ in 2024, followed by ‘Circles’ in 2025. The latter was signed by Jo Wallace and Ashley Beedle’s Ramrock Records and gained support from Gilles Peterson and Tony Blackburn. Alongside their work as a trio, each member has an established creative history. Danny Schogger has written and produced for Celine Dion and performed with George Michael. Joe Cang has written for Aswad, including the number one single ‘Shine’, and for Hall & Oates, while also releasing solo work under the guidance of Clive Davis. Phil Thornalley has produced artists such as The Cure, written songs for Natalie Imbruglia including ‘Torn’, and played in Bryan Adams’ band. The trio are now completing their debut collaborative album ‘Back to the Buffet’, due for release later this year.
