Hollowpulse unveils ‘Somnia’, a downtempo ghost-tech composition rooted in atmosphere, stillness and psychological depth. The track explores the hypnagogic state, that fragile threshold between wakefulness and sleep, where thought loosens, memory blurs, and emotion drifts freely.
‘Somnia’ moves slowly and deliberately. Soft, submerged rhythms form a gentle pulse beneath hazy textures and spectral tones, creating a soundscape that feels suspended rather than driven. The track avoids traditional structure, instead unfolding like a half-remembered dream, guided by mood and sensation rather than progression or release.
There is a quiet tension within the piece. Elements hover just out of reach, dissolving as quickly as they appear. This sense of impermanence mirrors the hypnagogic experience itself, where images and feelings surface briefly before slipping away. It is introspective music, designed for inward listening rather than external movement.
Hollowpulse began crafting soundscapes in 2010, drawing early inspiration from trance, techno, dubstep and ambient music. That foundation shaped a long-standing interest in immersive textures, hypnotic rhythm and emotional resonance. As her sound evolved, she gravitated toward more abstract and atmospheric forms.
In the mid-2010s, the emergence of vaporwave opened new creative pathways, leading Hollowpulse into the territories of dreampunk and ghost-tech. These genres helped define her current identity, blending nostalgia, futurism and melancholy into a distinct, otherworldly aesthetic.
Remaining anonymous, Hollowpulse allows the music to exist without context or expectation. Influences are borrowed, reshaped and absorbed rather than referenced directly, resulting in a sound that feels familiar yet detached from genre boundaries.
‘Somnia’ stands as a clear expression of that approach. Quiet, immersive and emotionally subtle, it offers a moment of suspension in time, inviting listeners to slow down and linger in the space between consciousness and rest.
