Drumcode opens a new chapter in its catalogue with the launch of the ‘DC4’ EP series, a focused spin-off from the label’s well-loved A-Sides compilations. The first volume brings together four artists from the extended Drumcode family, each delivering their own take on peak-time techno. Buy/stream it here: https://drumcode.ffm.to/dc333.
Kaufmann leads the way with the intriguingly titled ‘Broncho’s Sandman’. It is a punchy, high-impact track that straddles the line between techno and progressive, driven by a hooky vocal line and a groove built for forward momentum. It is a confident opener that sets the tone for the rest of the EP.
Timmo follows with ‘Miami Vice’, a technicoloured techno workout bubbling with personality. The Bulgarian producer injects the track with celestial synth flourishes and a vibrant, almost cinematic energy. It is a natural follow-up to his contribution on A-Sides Vol. 13, showing his knack for crafting tracks that hit hard yet stay playful.
Mark Reeve returns to Drumcode for the first time in four years with ‘Stop, Go’. The Frankfurt-based British producer blends techno, hard trance and pop elements into an inspired five-minute ride. It is propulsive and anthemic, carrying the kind of tension and release that gets big reactions in the right setting.
Closing the release, Goom Gum join forces with RDNK for ‘It’s Time To Get High’. The track starts life as a melodic, crisp cut before morphing into a trippy, psychedelic journey in its second half. It is tailor-made for open-air stages, where its evolving structure can really shine.
‘DC4’ Volume 1 is a statement of intent for the series. It delivers variety without losing cohesion, and each cut has its own distinct identity. For Drumcode, it is another way to showcase the breadth of their roster. For listeners, it is a sharp, four-track package that covers multiple shades of modern techno.
