DASK Return with ‘Four Shadows’ on nomnomnom

Three somber men are depicted against a backdrop of lush green leaves with a vibrant orange sky, creating a surreal and moody atmosphere.
DASK

DASK, the collaborative project uniting Savaggio, Dark Arps and Kostiya, return with ‘Four Shadows’, landing via their own nomnomnom imprint.

The trio’s dynamic has always leaned into contrast. Savaggio’s string-led sensibility, shaped in Berlin’s clubs from Kater Blau to Ritter Butzke, meets Dark Arps’ modular-driven intensity and Kostiya’s narrative-focused minimalism. On ‘Four Shadows’, those instincts converge into something darker and more deliberate.

Built around a central motif that feels patient rather than hurried, the track unfolds with controlled momentum. Textured low end, restrained percussion and evolving melodic fragments hold tension in place. Instead of chasing obvious peaks, DASK allow the groove to breathe, gradually tightening its grip. The result feels immersive and slightly disorienting in the best possible way, designed for late-night floors where subtle shifts matter more than spectacle.

The concept behind ‘Four Shadows’ leans into identity and duality. As the collective put it, a shadow is not the absence of light but proof that it exists. That idea runs through the arrangement. Light and shade move in parallel, with moments of clarity offset by deeper, more introspective passages.

The release also reinforces the direction of nomnomnom, the label founded in 2025 by Savaggio and Dark Arps. Positioned as a home for left-of-centre club music, the imprint champions sounds that reveal their character over time. Not instant gratification, but tracks that reward repeat listens and long blends.

Individually, all three artists bring a serious pedigree. Dark Arps has shared stages with names including Rrose, Darren Emerson and Matthew Dear, while Savaggio’s catalogue spans Traum Schallplatten, Natura Viva and Magician On Duty. Kostiya’s cross-continent journey from Moscow to Hong Kong to Vancouver informs a DJ style that resists convention while maintaining a sense of flow.

Together as DASK, that experience becomes cohesive yet unpredictable. ‘Four Shadows’ marks their second chapter, sharpening the edges of their shared vision and setting the tone for what nomnomnom aims to represent going forward.
