Boom Merchant’s new single, Throw Up, is intense techno with a boisterous vocal and gritty drums.
The original is joined by remixes from Fractious and Obsidian Wave, both of whom focus on the original’s hypnotic elements.
After bubbling under the surface for years, Boom Merchant is now making headway within the international techno scene. He is originally from Ireland, and spent many years living in Glasgow, where he was resident at some of the city’s most prestigious events and venues.
Currently living in Mexico, Tribal Pulse is Boom Merchant’s own imprint, and it’s the outlet for this single. Boom Merchant has also worked with imprints ranging from T78's Autektone to La La's Brand New Records.
On remix duty, Fractious is a German artist whose slick style of hypnotic techno has seen him release on the likes of Tronic, KD RAW, and Sway. He also runs the RAW WORX imprint that has released music by Boom Merchant.
Completing the package, Obsidian Wave releases regularly on Tribal Pulse, and his aggressive remix combines influence from hardcore breaks with full-throttle techno.
The original mix of “Throw Up” has a solid kick drum and throbbing bassline, combining with an MC style vocal and deep pads. Fractious delivers a deep and hypnotic version, and Obsidian Wave goes hard with the brutal energy of his speaker-freaking rework.
