Bold Parade returns with new EP ‘To The Future Together’

Bold Parade, the widely acclaimed project from London-based, Belfast-born producer and multi-instrumentalist Paul McMahon, makes a strong return this winter with an outstanding four-track EP, ‘To The Future Together’, released on his own Suzume Recordings imprint.

Paul has been shaping grooves for over two decades, first under the name Crashdaddy and later as part of Bellcrash alongside Mark Bell. Together and separately, the duo released music through Sunshine Recordings, Seventh Sign, Illicit, Island Hopper and Freebooter Lounge, building a reputation for blending cool beats with jazz-styled musicianship and a production aesthetic that bridges modern electronics with classic rhythmic jazz overtones. His Bold Parade project debuted with ‘Flowers In The Dirt EP’, followed by ‘Heat EP’, before dropping the full-length ‘Two Leaves Falling’ album in 2023. Last year saw the release of ‘Core’ and ‘Never Give Up, Never Give In’ EPs, both warmly received across the soulful, jazz and the Ibizan sunset sound-tracking fraternity.

The new EP continues that trajectory. The stunning opening track ‘The Golden Braid’ features the Stephens Oyo Choir, their voices layered over afrocentric jazz grooves, live brass and a standout trumpet solo. ‘Land Of Tears’ shifts into a Latin mode, Noon’s vocal framed by shimmering guitars and sunlit percussion. Regular collaborator Marti Buchanan returns on ‘My Place Of Joy’, her tones riding a funk arrangement with understated charm. The closing beauty ‘Tarde cai, eu danço’ sees the retune of Bianca Amante back, with it its Latin pulse and twilight theme rounding off the release with grace.

‘To The Future Together’ reaffirms Bold Parade as a project that thrives on genre-crossing ideas, executed with precision and warmth. It’s another assured step from an accomplished producer who continues to carve his own lane in the intersection of jazz, funk, Latin and soul.
