Alok and SCRIPT come together on ‘Substance’, a new Tech House single released via Insomniac Records that leans decisively into the genre’s old school foundations.

Although a brand-new release, ‘Substance’ is built on a clear sense of history. Punchy drum grooves and room-shaking basslines form the backbone of the track, while saturated, analogue-inspired textures give it a raw and physical feel. The production avoids excess, focusing instead on groove, pressure, and late-night functionality, recalling the stripped-back energy of early warehouse-driven Tech House.

At the centre of the record is the vocal performance from FAANGS. Her delivery is gritty and unapologetic, cutting through the mix with a presence that feels lived in rather than polished. The vocal adds tension and attitude, grounding the track in club realism and amplifying its underground edge. The interplay between her sharp toplines and the chunky, minimal groove is what gives ‘Substance’ its identity.

For Alok and SCRIPT, the release signals a clear stylistic direction. Rather than chasing festival-scale moments, ‘Substance’ is designed for darker rooms and longer nights, where repetition, texture, and restraint matter more than spectacle. It is Tech House with intent, built to move bodies rather than decorate playlists.

The track also reflects a wider shift within Insomniac Recs. As the label continues to embrace a tougher, more underground-leaning sound heading into 2026, ‘Substance’ stands as a defining marker of that evolution. It reconnects with club culture at its roots while maintaining the clarity and impact expected of modern production.

‘Substance’ arrives as a statement rather than a novelty. Raw, punchy and confidently retro in spirit, it delivers the energy many have been missing from contemporary Tech House, while setting a clear tone for what lies ahead in the genre’s next chapter.
