Alex Galvan is back on his record label, Satélite Records, to drop a deep and stripped-back release made in collaboration with BÂBEL.
Hailing from Mexico, Alex Galvan's style is a fusion of organic sounds and trippy atmosphere, and this is his second time working with BÂBEL after the pair recently teamed up to release a track via Sounds of Khemit.
Satélite Records is an imprint that Alex Galvan launched in 2020, and it's been a main outlet for his music, but he has also featured tracks and remixes on the likes of Dialtone Records, Shango Records, and WAYU Records. Alex Galvan has had numerous tracks chart in the Top 10 on Beatport, and he's also a respected DJ at the heart of the North American scene.
BÂBEL is a Mexican duo consisting of De la Torre and Liturri. They are visionary artists whose performances are a hybrid mix of DJing and live instruments. BÂBEL is a relatively new alias, but they each have years of experience as solo artists. Their sound is a combination of nomadic travels and a decade of experience in the studio.
This two-track EP was conceived as a descending emotional journey that creates energy and tension through its deep basslines and immersive atmosphere.
"La Joya" is the first track on the release, and it layers dubby pads with sparkling Mediterranean strings and a funky bassline. Intense bass stabs add to the techy groove, which layers ominous suspense with the delicate sound of the organic melody. Its breakdown ends with spiralling synths that captivate a dance floor, before the drums burst forth with a release of energy.
The second track, " La Pieza" carries a refined intensity with tight grooves. Bouncy conga drums intertwine with sweeping pads, dramatic piano chords and rubbery bass swells, creating an enchanting mood with dark undertones. The atmospheric breakdown introduces a haunting flute melody, before ramping up the tension when the track hits its crescendo, and the drums regain control. " La Pieza" represents the raw brilliance of a stone before it is fully shaped - powerful, radiant, and demanding attention.
