Now fans have the chance to see the full evolution of the Isreali-born, Berlin resident with the release of his full album, ‘aliens & flowers.’ With the release of ‘alien 303’, ‘if it was us?’ and ‘bad memory’, Status Zero gave a glimpse into his change of direction, choosing to work on instinct and live in the moment, rather than be bound by genres. • Phonique Announces new label with remix from Ukraine's Korolova

Phonique, the Berlin-based award- winning producer launches his new label Zatar Music with a brand new remix of one of his best-loved records from Ukraine’s breakout star Korolova. Phonique is one of electronic music's most consistently exciting and prolific artists, releasing with acclaimed labels like Dessous, Poker Flat, Crosstown Rebels, Stil vor Talent, Systematic, Bunny Tiger, Katermukke, Bar 25 Music and Superfett. His career first exploded in 2004 with club anthems The Red Dress and For the Time Being, but it was his track Feel What You Want from his 2010 album Kissing Strangers which earned him global recognition. Over the course of more than two decades, Phonique has never been one to stick rigidly to a single sound or genre, and over the last few years – during visits and performances in places like Jordan, Ukraine and Armenia – began experimenting with more organic house and melodic sounds in both his sets and the studio. “Zatar Music is going to be my main focus, both for my own productions and artist I believe are making extraordinary music. I will of course continue to release on other labels, but Zatar gives me the opportunity to fully explore the more organic, melodic side of my production. We have some truly incredible releases planned which I can’t wait to share with you”. Phonique The inaugural release on Zatar Music will come from the aforementioned Korolova, on Phonique’s breakout hit Feel What You Want. Her slick and stylish productions - whether solo or with the likes of Jan Blomqvist, Spada or Tube & Berger - combine rolling drums with delicate keys, evocative vocals and spine-tingling chord progressions. For her remix of Feel What You Want, Korolova builds on the progressive elements inherent in the original, combining billowing pads and sidewinding synth lines alongside an epic break: a true masterclass in building both tension and atmosphere. Feel What You Want (Korolova Remix) is out 01 July on Zatar Music

  • Status Zero unveils 3 track EP in anticipation of epic ‘aliens & Flowers’ Album

Status Zero impressed with recent single ‘alien 303’, unveiling a new album was on the way and teasing fans with an impressive first single from it. Now, the Berlin-based, Israeli native returns with a 3 track EP, adding to ‘alien 303’ with 2 new singles that further unveil the interstellar exploration Status Zero has undertaken with his forthcoming album. While ‘alien 303’ was all about the acid line from the start, ‘if it was us?’ begins with warm pads, and puts the focus on building that atmosphere. That creates the tension for the first drop perfectly, which arrives with a warm rolling bass and sparse, heavily reverbed percussion. A repetitive melody is introduced, but this single is all about space, while continuing to evolve throughout. ‘Bad Memory’ utilises a dark vocal and skippy melody from the beginning, to give fans a taste of what they can expect from the third and final track of the EP. Trademark arpeggiated leads sit atop the beat, perfectly highlighting the extraterrestrial theme that runs throughout the whole release. A theme that is set to be fully explored upon the release of the full album soon. On the new EP and slowly unveiling his album project, Status Zero said, “I created 'if it was us?' because I wanted people to rethink themselves during this "trip" about if they are on the right path in life, sometimes humans need to stop and have a good deep discussion with their insider, and reflect on what they love or hate in them, and learning to accept them as they are now with no self-judgment.”

  • Tim Engelhardt returns to Poker Flat with Follow

Tim Engelhardt returns to Poker Flat Recordings for the first time since his First Contact release in 2020. In the meantime the German producer and DJ has been gracing other fine labels such as Stil Vor Talent and Watergate Records, but Poker Flat is delighted to welcome back his distinctive deep and effecting approach to tech house with his new EP Follow. Follow is a highly musical track – the live-sounding drums give it a motorik feel, while the bubbling synths and melancholic, jazzy keys bring an element of depth and sophistication. Burning is a techier cut, with a thick, rounded bass and some of Tim’s trademark tension building synth lines. It’s the perfect soundtrack for the upcoming festival season. Follow is out 03 June on Poker Flat

  • Status Zero drops ‘Alien 303’ and Announces New Album ‘Aliens & Flowers’

The shackles are off for Israeli native Status Zero, as he unveils a new sound with ‘alien 303’, the first single from newly announced album ‘aliens & Flowers’. Choosing to let go of perfection and not be constrained by boundaries, Status Zero has worked hard through a period of reflection to hone a new aesthetic that is free of preconceptions, rules and expectations, using only his hardware and expression to craft his new vision as an artist. ‘alien 303’ is the exciting first product of that shift in mentality, and will have fans excited to hear more. ‘alien 303’ kicks off with a hypnotic acid line that evolves in the opening stages before dropping to a heavy kick and bassline combination. The acid pattern swiftly returns to add to the tracks already driving nature. The key theme of the track here is evolution. Another melody is added to accompany the existing musicality, but ‘Alien 303’’s strength lies in its sparsity, with minimal elements used to maximum effect. The breakdown utilizes clever use of LFO to create space for the extraterrestrial vocal to shine, ensuring the track is as out of this world as the name suggests. On ‘alien 303’, Status Zero said: "I want the listeners and future fans to appreciate the historical impact of the tb 303 on the music we love today, from Aphex Twin to Tame Impala, the sound of 303 was always there to take us to a whole different musical dimension" ‘alien 303’ is only the start of this new chapter for Status Zero, and if this first single is anything to go by, there is plenty more to come that will ensure he propels himself into the stratosphere with his new music and build anticipation for his forthcoming album.
