Some remixes feel like full-circle moments. Will Taylor’s rework of Flight Facilities’ ‘Foreign Language’ is precisely that. Buy/stream it here: https://ffm.to/foreignlanguageremix.
The London-based DJ and producer has been a fan of the track since it dropped in 2011. “It’s always been one of my favourite vocals,” he says. “You can’t beat hearing Jess’s voice when you’re sitting by the pool with a beer in hand.”
That early connection planted the seed. Years later, after quietly working on an edit using the acapella, he sent a version to his mate Tyson O’Brien as a promo. Tyson passed it to the Flight Facilities crew. “Not long after the summer, Jimmy from the duo got in touch. He said he’d love to release it as an official remix. It’s been a long process, but we got there.”
Now officially out on Future Classic, Will’s remix gives ‘Foreign Language’ a proper club reboot. Deep low-end, tight percussion and techy stabs drive the groove, while Jess’s unmistakable vocal threads it all together. It’s punchy, direct and built for the dancefloor.
“My sound is always built around the bassline,” he says. “I like it heavy with a catchy hook, and this version couldn’t be any more that.”
Will’s remix follows Riva Starr’s 2022 version and joins a legacy of top-tier reinterpretations. But rather than rehashing the past, he pushed the track somewhere new. “The only issue I had was with the key of the bassline,” he says. “Jimmy gave me some great feedback, got me to make a few versions, test them out… and eventually we locked in the final one.”
Support has already landed from the likes of Michael Bibi, HoneyLuv and Ammo Avenue. “Let’s hope my good friend Michael Bibi makes my dream come true and drops it in the DC10 garden,” he laughs. “Sun setting, planes flying over and that vocal dropping... that’s the moment I picture.”
Known for high-energy sets at venues like fabric, Amnesia Ibiza and Printworks, Will brings that same club awareness into the studio. “I’ve played all kinds of venues, and all kinds of set times,” he says. “Open to close, 10-hour marathons. That’s really helped me shape how I produce. You learn what works and when.”
That mindset has led to his music being featured on labels such as Saved, Nervous, and Issues, with regular support from DJs including Jamie Jones, Fisher, and Marco Carola. Now with Future Classic under his belt, Will is only just getting started.
“I’ve been lucky to work with some huge labels,” he says. “But I don’t send every track out. If I’m aiming for a label I’ve released on before, I need to believe it belongs there. That means pushing myself every time.”
And the next chapter’s already looking packed. “I’ve got a long overdue collab with my mate DETLEF, a two-track EP on Dosmundos, plus a remix from Sante Sansone dropping 1st August,” he reveals. “Then a new single coming on BINARY, and I’m working on more collabs with Deeper Purpose, Side B and Jess Bays. I’m really exploring my sound this year, and it’s working nicely.”
There’s also a full calendar of live dates across the UK and Europe. “I’m excited to take my sound further around the world in 2025 and 2026,” he adds.
But right now, it’s about ‘Foreign Language’. A poolside favourite turned dancefloor weapon. A fan-made edit turned official remix. A nod to the past, and a firm step into what’s next.
