Visionquest celebrates 90 releases with latest EP from N/UM and Wareika

Visionquest returns in 2024 with a true meeting of the minds! Combining the superpowers of two world-renowned trios and resulting in a masterclass in musicality, patience, texture, and psychedelia.

N/UM, the Brooklyn electronic music trio known for their extended live sets and boundary-pushing soundscapes, collaborates with the innovative German electronic band Wareika to deliver a one-of-a-kind collaboration rooted in decades of experience across a plethora of musical genres

'Foundation' immediately dives us into an exercise of patience and pressure. A driving low end is accompanied by natural field recordings and soundscapes layered underneath fluttering dreamscape keys. Loose hi- hats and appropriately timed cymbals go hand in hand with the bottom to propel the track forward keeping time with your heart rate to allow your mind to drift away to another dimension.

On the A2., 'Fragments Five' brings us out of hyperspace to land in our favorite space cantina. A swinging acid baseline and playful percussion bring the mind back to the dance floor to meet the body already in motion. The hips will not be denied. Infectious jazz guitar and soul-jumping stabs give the listener classy hooks, while Emil Bovbjerg's vocal stylings create an allure throughout the track that will make this tune a staple in any DJ's box for years to come.

On the flip, Kaizen takes us rolling and grooving deep into what one Visionquest member coins as, 'Garden House'. Organic elements all work in harmony to create a breathing organism of sonic movement. Live musicality is being warped and tweaked to liven the senses before another acid line takes over to make this a dancefloor stomper.

The final track on the EP 'Embrace' keeps us in the garden and further amplifies just how well these two trios complement one another. Galloping percussions, twinged hats, and smooth crescendos move us towards a guitar and horn tandem playing off of one another to create a hallmark hook. There is a feeling of celebration that makes the title of the B2 track all the more appropriate.
