Third Culture, the brainchild of Sian and Sacha Robotti, has teamed up with Chicago powerhouse Hiroko Yamamura for their latest track, “She’s Evil.” The single is anything but your typical house or techno anthem—think funky, playful, and dirty. With a driving bassline, digitized synths, and distorted vocals, “She’s Evil” is all about attitude. And if that wasn’t enough, Detroit legend DJ Minx steps in with a remix that takes things up a notch, adding her signature “wax” sound and heavier vibes. Released on Octopus Recordings, the track isn’t just set to light up dancefloors and highlights Third Culture and Octopus’s dedication to showcasing female talent in underground music. “We wanted something different from what’s trending in house or techno right now,” says Sian. “It’s a twisted, fun track that speaks to our darker aesthetics but still keeps the energy playful for the dancefloor. Minx is a legend in Detroit, and we’re so stoked to have her on this one—her influence on women in the music industry is huge.”

Third Culture: Blending Cultures, Breaking Genres

Sian (Irish-Spanish) and Sacha (German-Italian) bring their unique backgrounds into everything they do. This blend of cultures and musical influences has seen them land releases on Drumcode, Aus Music, and Sci+Tec while running their own successful labels—Octopus (Sian) and Slothacid (Sacha).

Since bursting onto the scene under the Third Culture alias, their genre-defying tracks have gained support from big names like Tale of Us, Michael Bibi, Maceo Plex, and Camelphat. Their 2022 debut on Solomun’s Diynamic label was a game-changer, leading to packed-out shows and another EP on Maceo Plex’s Lone Romantic in 2023. With more releases lined up, Third Culture is showing no signs of slowing down.

Hiroko Yamamura: Techno’s Chicago Trailblazer

Hailing from Chicago, Hiroko Yamamura’s sound is raw, edgy, and undeniably inspired by her city’s rich electronic music legacy. Her industrial and punk rock roots blend with straight-up techno to create something totally unique. After taking a break from music, Hiroko has returned in full force, with releases on Trax Records and Impact Mechanics, while keeping Chicago’s underground techno scene alive and kicking.

Known for her high-energy sets and DIY ethos, Hiroko has made her mark on the global stage, from Berlin to Ibiza, and remains a staple in the Midwest rave circuit. Her collaboration with Third Culture reflects her bold, experimental approach to music.

DJ Minx: Detroit’s Queen of Groove

DJ Minx, Detroit’s legendary First Lady of Wax, has been a key figure in the techno and house scene for over two decades. From her early days as a DJ to founding the Women On Wax collective, Minx’s contributions to the industry are undeniable. Her remix of “She’s Evil” is packed with her trademark grooves—deep, funky, and designed to make people move.

Minx’s influence goes far beyond just the music. She’s been celebrated for shaping the history of dance music, making her an important voice for women in the industry. In recent years, Minx has continued to break boundaries, from Pride Month celebrations to releasing music that uplifts Detroit’s queer community.

With “She’s Evil” and its remix, Third Culture, Hiroko Yamamura, and DJ Minx come together to create something truly special—fresh, fierce, and ready to dominate the dancefloor.
