Technics has introduced the SL-1210MKX, a new professional direct-drive turntable designed for club, festival and touring environments. Revealed during Amsterdam Dance Event, the model sits above the SL-1210MK7 and draws on feedback from working DJs and sound engineers.

The turntable addresses a familiar problem for vinyl DJs: keeping playback stable when a powerful sound system is sending vibration through the booth. A heavier, balanced chassis and newly developed isolation feet are designed to reduce unwanted feedback while preserving the controlled response required for scratching and performance.

Pitch control is a headline upgrade. A dedicated ±4% range offers finer tempo adjustment for precise beatmatching, while an expanded ±50% range opens up more extreme pitch manipulation. The familiar Technics coreless direct-drive motor remains, with adjustable start-up torque and braking.

Other details include 78 rpm playback, reverse operation and a quieter reset switch inspired by earlier SL-1200 models. A polished silver tonearm contrasts with the black finish, acknowledging the visual heritage of the SL-1200MK2 without simply recreating an older design.

Technics says the new model is intended for demanding professional use, including permanent venue installations, rental companies and headline DJ riders. Its arrival also reflects renewed attention to vinyl performance in a market otherwise dominated by digital media players and all-in-one systems.

The SL-1210MKX is scheduled to reach selected retailers in January 2027. Its announcement comes as Technics celebrates 55 years of the SL-1200 series, a platform closely connected with the development of modern DJ culture.
