Two giants from different corners of dance music have collided. Today, Pendulum and Armin van Buuren release their debut collaboration 'Sound of You' on Armada Music – a full-throttle drum-and-bass cut that marks Armin's first-ever original track in the genre. Featuring vocals from Pendulum frontman Rob Swire, 'Sound of You' was born during a joint studio session in early 2024 and first road-tested at Tomorrowland Belgium 2024, where it landed to massive crowd reaction.
Originally written as a big room progressive house track by Armin, the first version dropped last month with Swire on vocals – his first feature in several years. But it didn’t stop there. The creative energy in the studio pushed things further.
“We’d talked about working together for a while,” says Rob Swire. “As soon as I heard the original, I knew I wanted to sing on it. Then Armin suggested a drum-and-bass version and had loads of great ideas. We got in the studio and it all clicked really fast.”
Armin saw the collab as a way to push into new ground. “Drum-and-bass isn’t usually my world, but working with Pendulum made it feel natural. Being in the studio together made a huge difference – I’m really proud of what we made.”
It’s a rare crossover moment that blends Pendulum’s signature energy with Armin’s melodic intensity – and it lands with serious impact.
