Australia’s Motive Records keep things moving this autumn with two new takes on Sonic Soul Orchestra and Daniel Thomas’ ‘Wake Up’. The label bring in UK producer Risk Assessment and Italian artist Raffaele Ciavolino for a remix package that gives the original two very different club directions. Risk Assessment goes straight for a lively, soulful update. The groove hits harder, the rhythm feels punchier and the vocal moments stand out with fresh twists. There’s a clear nod to 90s house in the structure and energy. It rolls with confidence and lands with the kind of lift you want when a room starts to peak. It keeps the spirit of the original alive while making it feel brand new.
Raffaele Ciavolino steps into a deeper zone. His version strips things back and leans into warmth and space. The bassline moves with a low, steady pulse while moody synth shapes fill the gaps around it. The remix has a calm, late night tension that opens the track up in a different way. It feels smooth, focused and built for darker corners of the floor.
Both remixes offer strong contrasts. One releases pressure, the other holds it. Together they show how flexible the original is and how well it adapts to different dancefloor moments.
Risk Assessment has been behind the decks since the early 90s with appearances at Ministry of Sound, Pacha and Fabric. His work has landed on labels like Stereo:type and Reel People Music. After time away from the scene he returned in 2014 and has stayed active in the soulful house world. Raffaele Ciavolino brings polished Italian production with experience as a sound engineer and DJ. His catalogue spans respected labels as well as his own imprint White Coffee Label.
