Bulgarian artist METODI has released a blistering new version of ‘Closer To Me’, the JD Davis classic that helped shape his path into music.
Now available on Set About Music, the track reimagines the 2004 progressive house original as a driving, peak-time techno weapon. Heavy on bass, emotionally rich, and built for dark rooms and massive crowds, this one hits with serious intent. Buy/stream it here: https://ffm.to/sa312.
Produced initially by Chab and featuring the unmistakable vocals of JD Davis, ‘Closer To Me’ was a defining track of its era. For METODI, it was much more than that.
“‘Closer To Me’ was one of the tracks that made me start seriously thinking about a music career,” he says. “I sent my remix to JD Davis, and he loved it. We connected instantly and decided to work together on future projects, including this official release.”
This new version stays true to the spirit of the original while completely rebuilding the structure. JD Davis’s iconic vocal brings the emotion, while METODI drives the energy forward with rolling percussion, moody builds, and a dark melodic edge. It is both a tribute and a reinvention.
The release also adds to METODI’s growing momentum. With over 150,000 monthly Spotify listeners and releases on major labels such as Drumcode, his productions have garnered support from Adam Beyer, Carl Cox, Enrico Sangiuliano, Oliver Heldens, and more.
JD Davis continues to build on his legacy as well. Known for his work with David Guetta, Joachim Garraud, and Tocadisco, as well as recent collaborations with Oliver Heldens and DJs From Mars, his voice and songwriting remain fixtures in electronic music.
‘Closer To Me’ is not just a throwback. It serves as a reminder of where this music originates and where it can still evolve.
