British DJ / producer, Jimmy Allen, dives into the new year with his tasty underground release, ‘The Get Down EP, capturing the depth of experience he has built across nearly fifteen years of being immersed in Liverpool’s electronic music community. As a long standing resident at parties such as Discoteca Poca and WAXXX and a DJ who has shared booths with Derrick Carter, Louie Vega and Ben Klock, Jimmy has shaped countless dance floors, and that history runs straight through the two tracks on this superb EP. Drawing on three decades of influence, he channels the spirit of the artists who inspired him while pushing his own jazz in the house jackin’ sound.
The title track, ‘The Get Down’, immediately sets the tone, its a deep and smoky groover built around warm piano lines, drifting sax phrases and a rhythm section that feels locked in for dancers from the first bar. It carries the ease and musicality of someone who has lived inside this sound for years, balancing classic elements with a contemporary touch. ‘Til The Morning’ takes things into a more underground direction, driven by a bumping deep groove and wrapped in sax hooks that weave in and out of the soundtrack. It’s built for late hours and warm rooms, rounding off the package with a strong authentic vibe that fits perfectly within the Circus Recordings catalogue.
Alongside his work in the studio, Jimmy continues to expand his reach on the road. His appearances at ADE and Suncebeat, along with his regular presence on Mi Soul Radio, have helped carry his sound far beyond Liverpool. With international bookings already confirmed through 2026 and more new music on the horizon, he remains a talented and trusted force on the dance floor.
