DYEN Releases Debut Album ‘HERE WE ARE’ On RECKLESS
DYEN has released his debut album ‘HERE WE ARE’ via RECKLESS, bringing together 12 tracks that document his rise through hard techno while pushing beyond the increasingly extreme direction of the scene.
Five collaborations feature across the record, with Maddix, Vieze Asbak, Mr. Polska and emerging UK producer Embers among those joining the Dutch artist. Rather than approaching his first full-length project as a collection of peak-time weapons, DYEN uses the format to explore the broader hard dance spectrum and the musical influences behind his development.
His background in live instrumentation plays an important role. Tracks are structured around progression and movement, allowing tension to develop through arrangements rather than relying exclusively on harder kicks and bigger drops.
That approach was first introduced through ‘VIEZE KICK’, which launched the album campaign in May. Its dark but bouncing groove established the record’s foundations before subsequent singles began revealing its wider scope. ‘RED EYES’, produced with Embers, moves towards a more euphoric sound through melodic elements and vocals before breaking into heavier drops. ‘BALENCI’ sees DYEN work with Mr. Polska, an artist he has followed since his younger years, bringing rap vocals together with rave and gabber influences.
Maddix collaboration ‘GABBER’ looks directly towards the Netherlands’ hardcore heritage, reworking those influences for contemporary dancefloors, while ‘MAAK ME NOU NIET GEK’ with Vieze Asbak takes the album into considerably more aggressive territory through industrial textures and rapid transitions. Closing track ‘LGFM’ pushes the stylistic crossover furthest, pulling from hardstyle, gabber and schranz across a deliberately chaotic finale.
Behind those shifts sits a wider story. ‘HERE WE ARE’ traces DYEN’s path from early rejection and uncertainty through to appearances on some of hard techno’s biggest stages, while reflecting on a scene that has transformed significantly around him.
His response is not simply to push harder. Instead, DYEN’s debut uses the album format to widen the parameters of his sound, bringing melody, hardcore history, industrial pressure and contemporary hard techno together without reducing everything to a race for intensity.
