Boom Merchant is back with a sizzling techno EP in his usual raw and captivating style.

Bad Trip is a three track EP that’s out on the Red Occultus record label, and it’s Boom Merchant’s second time working with the imprint.

Red Occultus is a sister label to Occultus Records and Black Square Recordings, which are both imprints that have also featured Boom Merchant’s music. His tracks have also been released through Autektone, Gain, and his own record label, Tribal Pulse.

The title track, “Bad Trip,” is a trippy cut with fizzing hi-hats and ominous pads merged with a looped female vocal that adds to the hypnotic flow.

Second, “Solo,” has a gritty bassline and funky offbeat stabs intertwining with a soulful vocal, while flickering percussion powers the intense groove.

“Top Boy” ends the release with a throbbing bassline and hammering kick drum, underpinning a jerking melody that builds towards a euphoric breakdown.

All round, it’s another fantastic offering from Boom Merchant who continues to innovate.

Out now, grab the release HERE.
