Australian producer 44 Ardent returns with his gripping new single, ‘Curtain Call’, a track that almost never made it past the demo stage. Out now via Mammal Sounds Records, the song is a dark, cinematic electronic cut driven by a high-impact chorus and immersive production. Buy/Stream it here: bfan.link/curtain-call.
Originally created as a pitch for a film project, the track was left unfinished after 44 Ardent, real name Callan, missed the deadline and shelved the demo for months. “This song began as a pitch for a film brief. I was chasing a big, dark, electronic chorus, a wall of sound with high impact. I wasn’t happy with it, so I missed the deadline and buried the demo on a hard drive, only to rediscover it months later,” he shares.
Despite the delay, the heart of the track stood the test of time. “The core idea still sounded good to me, which is unusual. Often, songs can sound much worse after some time away. It was very similar to the version you’re hearing now, just the mix was kinda terrible, so I gave it a solid tidy and here we are. It’s always great when you can bring an idea to life and let others hear it rather than let it sit forever on a drive,” he explains.
‘Curtain Call’ is a bold statement from the producer, offering a first glimpse into a wave of new music currently in development. With its brooding energy and sharp production, it captures the forward-thinking electronic sound that has made 44 Ardent a rising name in the scene.
Available everywhere now, ‘Curtain Call’ signals a busy period ahead for the producer. Fans can expect more releases soon as he continues to push his sound into deeper, more cinematic territory.
