UMEK & Sam WOLFE drop new peak time techno track 'Aktivate'.

UMEK & Sam WOLFE

Out now is a new release that sees UMEK collaborate with his protégé, Sam WOLFE.

UMEK for over two decades has dropped techno tracks via labels like Carl Cox’s Intec, Chris Liebing’s CLR and Reinier Zonneveld’s Filth on Acid. He also runs the 1605 record label that in recent times has become the main platform for his own music, and Sam WOLFE is one of the other artists to feature heavily on his record label.

Sam WOLFE’s sound has a huge amount of crossover with UMEK’s, and it seems likely that he has taken inspiration from the 1605 sound. UMEK for a long time used 1605 as a platform to exclusively release his own productions, but artists like Sam WOLFE and Mha iri have joined the label’s roster in recent years.

1605 wasn’t the first label to feature Sam WOLFE as he has previously worked with Christian Smith’s Tronic and The YellowHead’s Reload, but 1605 seems to be the place where Sam WOLFE has really begun to flourish.

It seems highly likely that UMEK has helped mentor and guide Sam WOLFE on his journey to becoming one of the world’s most exciting new talents, and their new track “Aktivate” is the second time the two have actually collaborated on music together.

Aktivate kicks off with heavy bass stabs and a slamming kick drum overlayered with dramatic snare rolls and bursts of rim shots. Its namesake vocal opens up to run through a list of compelling words that add to the unstoppable energy. It’s got acidic tones and intense atmosphere that unleash hell upon the dance floor.
