Thijs Koning returns with ‘Cheeky Stabs’, a groove-led release landing via Airtime Records.

The track leans into a stripped-back, basement-driven sound. From the outset, a heavy sub bass sets the tone, anchoring the groove with weight and movement while tight drum programming keeps everything locked in. The rhythm feels direct and functional, designed to sit cleanly within a mix.

That foundation carries the track. Detuned organ stabs and glitchy percussive hits add texture, introducing small variations that keep the groove active without shifting its direction. Subtle UKG nuances run through the rhythm, giving it swing and bounce while maintaining a minimal house framework.

There’s a clear sense of control in the arrangement. Nothing feels overbuilt or forced. Each element is placed with intent, allowing the groove to do the work while the finer details add character and movement.

That balance defines the record. It blends low-end pressure with stripped-back structure, delivering a track that works across late-night sets where consistency and flow take priority.

Based between Amsterdam and London, Thijs Koning continues to develop a sound shaped by early house and UK garage influences, building momentum through both his productions and growing presence on the club circuit.

With ‘Cheeky Stabs’, he delivers a focused, groove-driven house cut that reinforces his identity as a producer centred on rhythm, energy and dancefloor function.
