Serato has officially launched Serato DJ for iOS, bringing its established DJ software environment to iPhone and iPad for the first time. Announced on 20th October, the release extends the platform beyond laptop-based performance and introduces a mobile option built around familiar decks, waveforms and library management.

The app uses the same underlying engine as Serato DJ Pro, with a redesigned interface for touchscreens. It can be used without external equipment in Handheld Mode, while support for more than 120 hardware configurations allows DJs to connect compatible controllers, mixers and turntables.

Serato Stems is included, allowing users to separate vocals, drums, bass and other musical elements. Stems FX, cue points, looping, sampling, Lucid Beatgrids and a broad effects selection also form part of the mobile package. DVS support is particularly notable, taking the software beyond a lightweight preparation tool.

Music integration covers Spotify, Apple Music, Beatport, SoundCloud and Tidal. An iOS Transfer feature lets users move crates, cue points, beatgrids and metadata from Serato DJ Pro or Lite on a computer, either wirelessly or by cable. Desktop software must be updated to version 5.0 or later for this transfer workflow.

The launch reflects a wider shift in DJ technology, with mobile devices increasingly capable of handling tasks once reserved for dedicated computers. The crucial question for working DJs will be how reliably the experience performs alongside existing equipment in real-world booths.

Serato DJ for iOS is available with a limited free feature set, while full functionality requires an eligible DJ Suite or iOS Outright licence. The app supports iOS and iPadOS 18.6 and later, including versions 26 and 27.
