Liverpool producer RILEY returns with ‘Falling Deep’, a two-track release landing on 26th March via his RLY imprint. Featuring vocalist Sophia Fernandes, the record captures two perspectives on the same idea. One looks forward through contemporary underground House. The other revisits the deeper, slower sound that shaped a generation of dancefloors during the early 2010s.
The original version, ‘Falling Deep (feat. Sophia Fernandes)’, sits firmly within RILEY’s current sonic identity. Built around hypnotic rhythm, physical low end and carefully controlled groove, the track moves with steady momentum rather than obvious peaks. Fernandes’ vocal sits at the centre of the arrangement, bringing further depth and emotional weight while leaving space for the rhythm section to breathe. The production balances clarity with restraint. Percussion is tight and purposeful. The bassline drives the record forward. Subtle melodic elements surface and disappear without disrupting the groove, reinforcing the hypnotic pull that defines RILEY’s sound.
Alongside it, ‘Falling Deep (2012 Mix)’ reframes the record through the lens of Deep House’s most formative period. Slower in pace and drenched in atmosphere, the mix draws on the textures and rhythmic sensibilities that defined club music across the UK, Ibiza, the rest of Europe and beyond during the early 2010s. Retro-leaning synth work, moody bass movement and laid-back drum programming create a warm, nostalgic tone while maintaining the dancefloor functionality at the core of the track. It feels reflective without becoming retrospective, offering a reinterpretation that honours the emotional depth of that era while keeping the groove intact.
Together, the two versions form a conversation between different chapters of House music’s evolution. The original reflects the current direction of underground club production, focused on groove, pressure and clarity on modern sound systems. The ‘2012 Mix’ reconnects with the melodic richness and slower pulse that defined an earlier wave of Deep House culture.
For RILEY, the release marks another step in a steadily growing catalogue built around groove-driven club records and uncompromising production choices. Born in Liverpool, he has developed a reputation for hypnotic House music that merges warehouse intensity with forward-looking club dynamics. Through his labels BINARY and RLY, he has created a platform for artists working in similar sonic territory while continuing to refine his own sound across releases such as ‘Going Deeper’, ‘Fundamentally Funky’ and ‘Rock Ya Soul’.
With ‘Falling Deep’, RILEY sharpens that identity once again. The record moves confidently between eras without losing its focus, grounding both versions in groove, emotion and dancefloor connection.
