Re:versal Unearths Rare Calibre And Blu Mar Ten Remixes For ‘REV004’ Vinyl Release

Re:versal Records has returned with ‘REV004’, a limited-edition heavyweight vinyl release bringing four drum & bass recordings from the Universal Music Group archive back into circulation.

The latest instalment pairs two Calibre remixes with Blu Mar Ten’s interpretation of Erykah Badu and a concise edit of Adam F’s ‘Circles’, connecting different eras and approaches within British drum & bass.

Calibre occupies the A-side, opening with his remix of Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs’ ‘Garden’ before turning to Bo Saris’ ‘She’s On Fire’. Both selections highlight the producer’s restrained approach to remixing, placing the original songs within his distinctive drum & bass framework.

On the reverse, Blu Mar Ten revisit Erykah Badu’s neo-soul classic ‘On & On’, bringing intricate percussion, spacious atmospherics and rolling low-end to the recording. Adam F’s ‘Circles’ closes the release in its 7-inch edit, returning to a defining moment in the development of British drum & bass.

“Drum & bass completely changed what was possible with electronic production,” says Re:versal Records label manager Felix Lindsell. “These four tracks show very different sides of that history, from Calibre and Blu Mar Ten’s approach to remixing through to a record like ‘Circles’, which still sounds remarkable nearly 30 years later.”

The release continues Re:versal’s archival approach, which has involved exploring more than 100,000 releases and sourcing original DAT masters to recover overlooked recordings and rare versions.

Alongside its vinyl catalogue, the label documents electronic music history through interviews, archive stories and documentary features, placing the records within the wider scenes that produced them.
