Volkoder’s arrival on Metamorfosi Records with his new ‘Cama Cama’ EP marks more than another addition to an already stacked release schedule. For an artist with more than thirty Beatport Top 10s and a career stretching past the fifteen-year mark, the EP represents a shift toward a more exploratory, instinct-driven chapter, shaped by the same curiosity that first pulled him into Brazil’s early underground.
He describes his starting point simply. “Starting out in Brazil was both a challenge and a blessing,” he said, remembering the early days when access to gear was limited and information moved slowly. The scene demanded resourcefulness, but it also offered something he still holds onto today. “The underground parties shaped me — that’s where I learned the value of dancefloor energy and real connection with the crowd.” That sense of communal energy became the backbone of his sound, a through-line you can hear across his catalogue and now in the three tracks that make up the ‘Cama Cama’ EP.
The foundation of his style goes back even further. Before the global tours and major label releases, he was absorbing records from Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers and Green Velvet, names he still calls crucial to his development. “Daft Punk and Green Velvet were major influences,” he said, listing them alongside Jamie Jones, Claude VonStroke and Solomun as the artists who later encouraged him to balance groove with melody in a way that felt personal rather than imitative. Those influences offered a framework, but the rhythmic identity came from home. “I always try to bring a bit of Brazilian swing,” he explained. “Whether in the percussion, basslines or vocal textures. I like my tracks to have a natural flow, almost like a conversation between groove and rhythm.”
That approach explains the shape of the new EP. The title track ‘Cama Cama’ blends minimal sensibilities with organic textures, shifting between rattling low end and tight percussion. “Cama Cama is more tribal, more intense, and represents a new chapter in my sonic evolution,” he said. ‘She Kisses’ pushes into darker territory, built around a throbbing bassline and techno-electro accents, while ‘Ibiza 90s’ brings back a sense of warmth with looping melodies and soft vocal touches. It is a small collection, but each track bends the Volkoder blueprint a little further outward.
Across more than a decade of touring, he has taken those ideas everywhere from Tomorrowland to Ministry of Sound and Space Miami, picking up details from different audiences along the way. “The crowd reacts differently, but the energy is universal,” he said. Europe gravitates toward storytelling. Brazil leans into emotion and intensity. The link between them is simpler than people think. “What brings everyone together is the groove — that moment when everyone connects without needing words.” That idea circles back again and again in his music, a reminder of where his instincts were shaped and how they still drive him now.
Longevity has not softened his hunger to explore. In fact, it seems to push him into new territories. “Curiosity is what keeps me going,” he said. “Electronic music is always evolving, and that’s what drives me. I like to challenge myself, test new ideas and connect with new generations without losing my essence.” You can hear that philosophy reflected in the tracks he considers touchstones for his journey:
Daft Punk – Around The World
The beginning of my passion for electronic music.
Volkoder – Detroit
One of my first tracks to gain international attention
Green Velvet – La La Land
Eternal inspiration for energy and attitude.
Volkoder – Cama Cama
A synthesis of my current phase, with Brazilian soul and a global sound.
With the ‘Cama Cama’ EP joining the Metamorfosi catalogue alongside releases from Joseph Capriati, Dennis Cruz, Murphy’s Law and FLOWFAT, Volkoder steps forward with a renewed sense of freedom. The sound has widened, but the roots remain firm: connection, rhythm, and the groove that first pulled him in.
