The story of legendary London nightclub Ministry of Sound is set to be documented in a new 416-page hardcover book, Ministry of Sound: Anthology, arriving this October.

Published by Rizzoli New York and written by Grammy-nominated creative director Simon Moore, the book charts the rise of Ministry of Sound from an ambitious South London club inspired by New York institutions such as Paradise Garage into one of the most influential brands in global dance music culture.

Drawing on more than two years of research, Ministry of Sound: Anthology brings together hundreds of previously unseen photographs, flyers, posters, record sleeves and memorabilia sourced from private collections, photographers' archives, second-hand shops and online marketplaces. The result is a detailed account of the club's formative years and its impact on British nightlife across more than three decades.

The book also features extensive interviews with many of the figures who helped shape the venue's legacy, including founders, former staff, clubbers and DJs. Contributors include Paul Oakenfold, David Morales, Carl Craig, Moby, Princess Julia, Pete Tong, Steve Angello and Honey Dijon, many of whom are sharing stories from the club's history for the first time.

"Before starting this book, I believed the story of Ministry of Sound was one of the most remarkable in British music culture and deserved to be told in full for the first time," said Moore. "The reality proved even more extraordinary."

Among the stories explored are the club's earliest years operating without an alcohol licence — a period founder Justin Berkmann famously described as an "underground juice bar" — alongside landmark performances from artists including Frankie Knuckles, DJ Harvey and Underworld.

Speaking on the release, Ministry of Sound Managing Director Caitlin McAllister said: "Everyone has a Ministry story, so to see the very best of them brought together in one place is pretty special."

As London nightlife continues to evolve, the anthology offers a rare look back at a pre-digital era of club culture and documents how a warehouse in South London became one of the defining spaces in the history of house music.

Ministry of Sound: Anthology is published on 20 October 2026.
