Reflecting on the past year, Logli shared how humbling it has been to share stages with industry heavyweights like Reinier Zonneveld, Fatima Hajji, and Sam Paganini. "Performing for a large crowd brings a lot of energy," he explained. "I thank the promoters for their trust in my ability to warm up for all these leading artists." Among his many gigs, one memory stands out: his set at Resonance on Easter Monday at the Mandela Forum. "Having a large audience allows me to give more than 100% of myself and fully enjoy the moment. I had so much fun and hope the audience appreciated it."
The forthcoming album, Origins, is a deeply personal project for Logli. He describes it as a sonic journey through dance music's past, present, and future—a tribute to the sounds that shaped him as an artist, reimagined for today's hard techno scene. "By listening to a lot of music and mainly playing techno tracks in my warm-ups, I decided to create something that truly belonged to me," he said. "A blend of '80s/'90s sounds with a fast-paced rhythm, 145 BPM techno."
To bring his vision to life, Logli collaborated with renowned producers Gianni Bini and Hollen, weaving together their expertise in house and techno with his meticulous approach to sound design. "I acted as the common thread, and with my ideas, I achieved a very challenging task," he explained. The result is an album combining nostalgia and innovation, resonating on a visceral level for techno purists and mainstream audiences.
Music has always been a guiding force for Logli, shaped by electronic and dance music pioneers. "I was born during the explosion of electronic music, and artists like Giorgio Moroder, Cerrone, Gino Soccio, and the entire '80s wave heavily influenced my musical choices," he shared. Certain tracks have left an indelible mark on him, including Chase by Giorgio Moroder, Children by Robert Miles, and Dancer by Gino Soccio. More recently, Ben Böhmer's Father Ocean has captured his imagination, even though he admits, "it has nothing to do with the world of techno, but it's profoundly impactful for me."
His residency at Block @ Black Zone has been another significant milestone in his journey, offering him the chance to perform alongside some of techno's biggest names. "When you play before a Big Artist, you need to warm up the dance floor. So, you must study the artist and stay below the sound the headliner will later deliver," he said. These experiences have shaped his approach to performing and his work in the studio.
Superba Records, the label Logli founded, has been instrumental in realizing his artistic vision. "I created my own label because it allows me to release my tracks, which otherwise might struggle to gain visibility in the infinite world of labels," he said. While he's proud of the recognition Origins has already received—from DJ Mag Italy, Vicious Magazine Spain, and Faze Magazine Germany—Logli remains focused on the future. "In the near future, two other albums, each very different from the other, will be released. I can't wait to dive into them. January and February will be two months of hard work."
When asked for advice for aspiring artists, Logli emphasized the importance of staying true to oneself. "Simply be yourself and don't copy others," he said. "Experiment, experiment, and experiment some more." This philosophy has guided him throughout his career, helping him stand out in an ever-evolving techno landscape.
Massimo Logli's Origins LP will be available on December 20th via Beatport and Spotify. With his passion for blending the familiar with the unexpected, Logli is proving himself as a visionary artist redefining what it means to make techno in the modern age.
