Soul and dance music icons Leee John and Byron Stingily have joined forces on 'Proud & Bold', a new single celebrating resilience, unity and self-belief through an uplifting blend of disco, soul and contemporary dance production.
Written and produced by Leee John and Dee Vaz, the release pairs two of the most recognisable falsetto voices in dance music. Built around vibrant strings, funky guitar, live drums and infectious grooves, 'Proud & Bold' delivers an optimistic message encouraging listeners to embrace their individuality while supporting one another through life's challenges.
Backing the pair is a talented ensemble of musicians, including Shumya on string arrangements, Crispin Taylor on drums, Isaiah Brown on bass, Yves Erson on guitar and Toby Baker and Dee Vaz on keyboards, creating a rich musical backdrop for the duo's unmistakable vocal chemistry.
The release also reunites two artists whose connection stretches back decades. Leee John first met Byron Stingily while touring the United States with Imagination, before the pair reconnected during the 1990s through producer Peter Rauhofer. Their previous collaborations, including 'Give Into Love' and 'U Turn Me On', became favourites among house DJs, but 'Proud & Bold' marks the first time they have fully centred their combined vocal talents on an original statement of this scale.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the record, Leee John said: "When I wrote 'Proud & Bold', I looked at the world around me - the struggles people face, the political divisions, and the challenges so many are dealing with every day. I wanted to write a song that represents positivity, hope, and upliftment for everyone."
Alongside the original, the release features remixes from DJ Destruction (Ross Emmins), Ernie McKone of Boogie Back Productions and Erique Dial of Raze, each offering a fresh interpretation while preserving the song's uplifting spirit.
With 'Proud & Bold', Leee John and Byron Stingily deliver a collaboration that celebrates not only their shared musical history, but the enduring power of soulful dance music to inspire, unite and uplift.
