Tell us about Black Codes Experiments and the influence and vision behind the label.

It was founded in 2000, and right now, it is considered one of the most prestigious Underground Techno Labels alongside Tresor, R&S, and Music Man,… with big talents like Regis, Mark Broom, The Advent, Ken Ishii, Takaaki Itoh, Tensal, P.E.A.R.L, Arnaud Le Texier, etc. The Black Codes concept is based on experimental sounds combined with hypnotic atmospheres and an extremely underground treatment. Black Codes Experiments have specialised worldwide Techno events, a Radio Show with the most relevant guests and a great selection of news and releases from the best underground labels!

What artists have released music on the label, and what artists would you like to sign music from in future?

Regis, Regal, Ken Ishii, The Advent, Tensal, Pfirter, P.e.a.r.l., Arnaud Le Texier, Takaaki Itoh, Mark Broom, Ian Axide, Kazu Kimura, Dykkon, Pwcca, Abstract Division, Michel Lauriola, and Albert Salvatierra, etc. The next artist to sign will be my friend Hector Oaks!

What do you look for when curating releases for your label?

My main goals are always Originality, Experimental, & Organic sound.

What release on your label has had the most significant impact and why?

I think Black Codes 05 with my Experiment_Regis Remix because, at the time when it was released, it was an inflexion point in the underground techno scene. It’s also my favourite release, with and without a doubt!

What other labels are you currently enjoying and why?

Mord, Induxtriall, Oaks, Materia or Children Of Tomorrow are constantly releasing great music with excellent artists and new talents, always creating original sounds and underground music perfect for listening but also for the dancefloors!

What is your favourite track ever released on the label and why?

I chose Experiment1 because it was my first experimental techno track created with a Roland TB909 and a Korg Monopoly!

What characteristics make a good label boss?

Constance, professionalism, responsibility and the most important thing: GOOD TASTE!

What advice do you have for other potential label bosses and aspiring artists?

Follow your heart and avoid external influences.

Lastly, what can we expect from your label in the coming months?

Lots of remixes and collabs from my respected artists and friends: Regal, Ken Ishii, Arnaud Le Texier, Tensal, Pfirter, P.e.a.r.l., Ian Axide, Dykkon, and of course all my remixes for them and their labels.
