Spinning Beats opens its 2025 account with a standout debut from Huw Shipps. Titled 'Leccy Bills', the EP introduces a new voice in the underground scene with four club-ready tracks that land somewhere between minimal, electro and deep groove-focused house. Huw Shipps is an emerging artist with a clear passion for rhythm-driven music. His sound is influenced by labels like FUSE, Wiggle, Limousine Dream and Constant Sound. You can hear those inspirations in his productions, but there’s something fresher and more personal going on too. Huw brings a playful energy and off-kilter edge that gives his tracks bite.
Opener 'Silver Pulse' blends eerie atmospheres, analogue textures and a gripping bassline. The electro influence is there, but it’s fused with a house groove that’s built for movement. 'Kopfkino' strips things back and lets the percussion take the lead. Swinging drums and a rolling low-end drive the track forward with confidence.
The title track 'Leccy Bills' takes a different turn. Dreamy and nostalgic, it softens the mood with lush pads and retro synths, giving a nod to early electro but with a fresh polish. It’s a warm, reflective moment that breaks up the EP nicely before the final cut.
'Rezolution' closes things out with serious intent. Straight to the point and loaded with low-end weight, it’s a deep, late-night roller packed with groove and subtle melodic touches. A strong finisher and a sign that Huw knows how to craft a full journey.
His work is already being picked up by names like Josh Baker, Archie Hamilton, Voigtmann, SKREAM, Kepler, Rich NxT and Mateo Dufour. With support like that and an EP this sharp, Huw Shipps is clearly doing something right.
Expect to hear a lot more from him this year.
