Chmba Opens A New Chapter With Afrofuturist Love Song ‘Kaya’
Chmba has returned with ‘Kaya’, a new single on Platoon that introduces the next phase of the African artist’s evolving electronic sound.
Positioned at the intersection of Afro Indie Dance and contemporary electronic production, ‘Kaya’ draws on Chmba’s cultural foundations without treating them as a fixed reference point. Rich percussion and Afrofuturist rhythms meet modern synth textures, continuing an approach built around connecting heritage with forward-looking club music.
At its heart, however, ‘Kaya’ is a love song. Its narrative centres on proudly celebrating a partner while refusing to be ashamed of the experiences that came before them, bringing a more personal dimension to the track’s rhythmic framework.
Chmba builds that story through layered vocals and an instrumental designed to give them room to breathe.
