CHLOÉ Announces First Studio Album In Nine Years With ‘Shapeshifter’

French DJ and producer CHLOÉ has announced her first studio album in nine years, ‘Shape Of The Unknown’, alongside new single ‘Shapeshifter’.
Due to arrive this October, the double LP will be CHLOÉ’s fourth studio album and her first since 2017. The record follows almost a decade spent exploring different corners of electronic music through DJing, EPs, remixes and other creative projects.
‘Shapeshifter’, released on 28th August, provides the first glimpse into that next phase. Built around stripped-back techno and deep, driving rhythms, the track gradually develops through expansive bass chords and subtle shifts in percussion rather than relying on dramatic changes in arrangement.
The result is deliberately hypnotic. Elements appear to move around one another while the central groove remains firmly locked in place, creating a sense of tension that reflects the ideas of transformation and shifting boundaries behind both the single and forthcoming album.
That connection between the dancefloor and more exploratory electronic music has long been central to CHLOÉ’s work. During the nine years since her previous studio album, she has continued to perform extensively, appearing at clubs and festivals including Rex Club, Robert Johnson, Panorama Bar, Nuits Sonores and Glastonbury.
Those experiences feed into ‘Shape Of The Unknown’, which is set to explore a wider range of sounds across its double-LP format while reconnecting with the physicality of club music.
The album also arrives more than two decades into a career that has consistently resisted being confined to a single corner of electronic music. With ‘Shapeshifter’, CHLOÉ begins that return with a record firmly designed around movement, repetition and the tension between familiarity and change.
