Beatport launches ‘The Block’ - a mobile festival stage for emerging DJs

Beatport has announced a bold new initiative aimed at providing emerging DJs with a real-world platform to perform, connect, and grow.

Introducing ‘The Block’ - a mobile stage built into a high-spec shipping container, designed to tour major festivals and locations while platforming the next wave of talent.

Developed by the new Beatport Live and Interactive team, ‘The Block’ responds to a rapidly shifting nightlife landscape. With over 400 UK clubs having closed in the past five years, the need for fresh spaces and opportunities is greater than ever.

“We’re creating spaces where new artists can be seen, heard and celebrated — beyond the screen,” said Ed Hill, SVP of Beatport Live. “The Block is about giving raw, local energy a place to thrive at major events.”

The Block will first appear at Junction 2 Festival in Boston Manor Park, London, from 25 to 27 July. After that, it heads to Rockstar Energy presents Creamfields from 21 to 24 August, before arriving at The Prospect Building in Bristol for its Autumn and Winter programme.

Aspiring DJs can apply to perform at Junction 2 by submitting a mix through Beatport’s dedicated sign-up page. Selected artists will receive a performance slot and complimentary day passes for themselves and their guests, granting them full access to the event. Submit your mix entry here.

The project has already earned backing from key figures in the scene.

Michael Kill, CEO of the NTIA, called it “a bold and positive step forward” in supporting talent at a time when venues are disappearing fast. Maria May, Head of Electronic at CAA, praised the concept as “a responsibility to the scene,” especially for helping underrepresented artists gain experience and visibility.

Beatport Live is part of the company’s broader effort to evolve beyond being merely a digital marketplace. Alongside The Block, it plans to launch album-focused live events, explore unexpected spaces for music and support artists at every stage of their journey.

More announcements, city details, and lineup details are expected soon.
