Helsinki-based producer ALX Emotional Concept returns with ‘I’m Not Drowning’, a vocal-led UKG release that leans into both groove and melody.

From the outset, the track locks into a clear 2-step rhythm. The drums carry a natural swing, giving the record its forward motion while leaving space for the melodic elements to shift around it. That balance between rhythm and atmosphere keeps things engaging throughout.

Vocals sit at the centre of the track. They drive the emotional tone without overwhelming the production, adding a sense of depth that complements the movement in the instrumental. It feels considered, with each section building on the last rather than relying on sudden changes.

There are also subtle touches of future-facing dance production woven in. These come through in the textures and arrangement choices, giving the track a more modern edge while staying rooted in UKG fundamentals.

ALX Emotional Concept has built a reputation around versatility, and ‘I’m Not Drowning’ continues that approach. His sound pulls from multiple corners of electronic music, but always lands with a clear identity.

This is a track that works just as well in a club setting as it does for casual listening. It carries enough energy to move a floor, while still offering detail for those paying closer attention.
